Reblogging with an update (currently 2:00am so I'll do a full review later in the morning!) but yes they removed the Nobody scene, replacing it with Odysseus double blinding Polyphemeus, first in the cave and then as a sort of "payback" to the dead comrades, still quite stupid though since Nolan doesn't want Odysseus to be prideful so he just makes him impulsive

In order for Agamemnon in Nolan Odyssey to aura farm in that scene, they have to leave out two actual demons (Neoptolemus and Diomedes)

In less than two hours I'll be watching the Odyssey on big screen and here's at least some things I will note about / expect:

1. If they fucked up Menelaus and Helen, at the VERY LEAST make Menelaus cry in front Telemachus like he did in the Odyssey. If he isn't haunted by his allegedly dead situationship's son then what are we doing here.

2. Peisistratus better exist, Telemachus being alone in these adaptations really suck. Dont give him nameless dudes he doesn't have a connection with 😭

3. If they make Antinous so cartoonishly evil I will laugh. So bad. And I'm looking out for Melantho's portrayal.

4. At the very very very least, do not distort Penelope's loyalty to Odysseus and Odysseus' persistance of going home to Penelope. Both are important. I can accept atheism, as stupid as that is when it comes to Athena's number one favorite war criminal, as long as the heart of the story is intact.

5. Probably have more in me but those are my main things.

gotta love it when someone you love gifts you something related to your favorite interest even if it isn’t something they particularly like. My diva of an aunt bought me a physical copy of Iphigenia in Aulis (The Bacchae and other Plays Penguin Classics Edition) since I couldn’t find one here in the PH and the only thing she asked me if there was porn inside xD (not that she’d mind! I am of age! she says it’s because of the Catholic guilt lmao)

I also yapped to her about Helen of Sparta when she asked about Greek Mythllogy and now she’s a) pissed that “the Troy movie lied” and b) wants Chris Hemsworth to play as Menelaus because he gives off massive “simp husband” vibe LMAOO

what advice i can give is: outlines are your best friend: a helpful thing that can note everything you want the scene of your story to accomplish. At least thats it for me, as other writers prefer writing on the fly

It's called Mayumiad from its titular character.) and after that I will finally, finally continue my Euripides Helen rewrite draft, to which is more evident now that all us Menelaus/Helen lovers need a cleanse 🩷

The thing that upsets me the most about these homer adaptations is that they never make menelaus a sweetie pie :( they forget that he’s got sunshine and rainbows in his heart :( he’s a cutie patootie and no one else sees it except for me and helen of sparta :(
