The young witch’s eyes soften as they see the sadness behind Mavis’ weak smile. Her one wish was for her friend to not do everything on her own.

“You don’t have to do this alone. Just let me help you, Mavis.”

The redhead gave a hesitant nod. It was going to be a little difficult, but with Ophelia helping, it shouldn’t take as long.

“I... need t’gather up ingredients again. If y’want, you can come with me?”

“Hun, I appreciate it but y’really don’t have to! It’ll be fine.” 

Mavis forced a small feeble smile as she looked at the younger witch. Her eyes softened a bit and she squeezed Ophelia’s hand. “Things are gonna be alright, y’don’t have t’fix this.”

“Kinda puts a kink in th’ plan, but alright. Fine, yer no fun.” 

Mavis mumbled beneath her breath. What were they supposed to do, just-- let the guy GO?? She glanced over at the tied-up victim and sighed deeply. “We aren’t gonna get answers if we jus’ ASK him questions. We gotta do somethin’. I was thinkin’ torture but since yer so AGAINST the idea... we might as well let this asshole go free.” 

Murder was bad. She knew that, but she killed people anyway. Not a LOT of people, and she hasn’t done it in a while, but... still. It was just the kind of person she was; she wasn’t good. She wasn’t sure what the Doctor even saw in her, why he chose her as his Companion. 

“Forget it, we’ll figure out another way t’ get what we need.”

She walked over to the victim and quickly untied him, but not before making sure he wasn’t going to remember any of this first. After reciting a memory loss spell, she helped him to his feet and shoved him forward.

“Y’ fainted, might wanna get somethin’ to drink and head on back home, darlin’.” 

The strange man raised an eyebrow and stumbled off, not quite sure what had just happened.
