it's very ironic (and cool) to me how asagiri reversed some of the most crucial relationships in bsd. for example, irl dazai idolized akutagawa and was heavily influenced by his life and writing, but it's the other way around in bsd. irl ranpo also adored and was inspired by poe's writing—enough to reference him numerous times in his own stories—but it's, again, the opposite in bsd. another point is that irl akutagawa greatly respected kunikida's skill and talked about him a lot in interviews, but in bsd, they obviously have an antagonistic relationship. i guess it's all about narrative, but it's interesting to think about

It's the way Herongraystairs' story isn't even a real tragedy by definition - given that Will lived a full life and died at an old age surrounded by his family, and Tessa got to be with both the men she loved at the right time - yet we all collectively do see it as a tragic love story because of how potent and eternal their love is?

Like it feels as if the only worthy outcome for a trio like theirs is for them to live in joy eternally right by each other's side at all moments, so when the happiest mortal outcome happened, it just struck us as "wow, this is so unfair and sad" because their love is just so big
