jane glances up at him from the floor, still gathering the mess with her hands. it’s mechanic, almost; the way that she can make the place look as good as new without even looking at what she’s cleaning. comes from a whole lifetime of tidying up after others. “well, that… that got real deep, real fast,” she says, trying a chuckle – but his words worm their way in a lot deeper than she lets on. “are you? i– i mean, do you? have a handle on your awareness?”
he laughs a little at her comment, a hand reaching up to run its fingers through his hair. “emotional? yeah. self? definitely. socially? uh huh. spatially?” he takes a second to look at the floor where his food had been spilled, then looked up at her and shook his head. “maybe that’s why i think it’s useless. i don’t have any.”
