Bo sinclair x reader req
"Get those darn cats away for one second"
bo sinclair x non specified gender reader , oneshot
The first thing Bo noticed wasn’t the meowing, It was the way the cats answered before you did.
The old Sinclair house had settled into one of its rare quiet afternoons. Lester was somewhere outside and Vincent hadn’t come upstairs since breakfast. Bo had expected to find you in the kitchen, like you always were, but instead,
“Mrrrrow.”
Two furry blurs rounded the corner before he even reached the doorway. Both staring at him with identical narrowed eyes.
With a sigh he grumbled “…Move.”
Neither did, not that they'd understood him.
The bigger one puffed itself up with all the confidence of an animal that weighed barely enough to make a decent dinner. Bo looked down at it, and the cat looked back.
“…You serious?”
A tiny hiss. Bo scoffed.
Only then did you peek around the corner, drying your hands on a towel.
“There you are.”
Your face brightened immediately, "Bo!"
The cats reacted even faster than you did. Both began weaving around your ankles, chirping loud enough to wake the dead. With a laugh you crouched down almost automatically. Which, kinda began feeling automatic with how much these two purred for your attention.
“I know, I know. I was only gone five minutes.”
Bo watched one of them stretch all the way up your leg just to be picked up.
“…You’re spoilin' ’em.”
“They’re affectionate.”
“They’re spoiled.”
“They’re babies.”
“They’re pests.”
The smaller cat stared directly at Bo from the safety of your arms, and it blinked. Slowly. Almost smugly, he was sure of it.
“…That thing just mocked me.”
“It always looks at people.”
“No.” Bo folded his arms.
“It looked at me.”
It only got worse.
If you sat down, There was a cat. If Bo came to talk, A cat arrived halfway through the conversation. If Bo leaned against the doorway while you sorted supplies, One was asleep in your lap while the other had claimed your shoulder like some feathery pirate bird that had forgotten it wasn’t supposed to have fur.
The final straw came three days later.
Bo had finally managed to catch you alone outside. You’d been helping him replace a loose fence post. No cats. No interruptions. Just the two of you.
“You hand me the hammer?”
You reached toward the toolbox. Instead, “Mrrrow.”
The big cat came sprinting across the yard like you’d been gone for weeks instead of twenty minutes. It launched itself directly into your arms.
Bo stared. “…You gotta be kidding me.”
"It found me!"
“I can see that.”
You scratched behind its ears automatically. Leaning down to plant a soft kiss on it's head you said, “I think it missed me.”
“You’ve been right here.”
The cat buried its face under your chin. Bo looked between the two of you for a long second.
“…I oughta throw it.”
Your head snapped up. "You will do no such thing.”
“I said oughta.”
“You were thinking it.”
“I was.”
You deadpanned and lowered your head towards the ball fluffed up against your hands. “You can’t throw my cat.”
“I wasn’t gonna.”
You pointed a warning finger at him. “Bo.”
“What?” The corner of his mouth twitched despite himself. That smug smirk, so full of himself, that charmed you despite it all. “I’m jokin’.”
Mostly.
