Every Wada Arco Fran and Salome I can find.
「 She had wanted to be loved.   She had wanted someone to love her.   She had wanted to love someone. 」
Source: poeticalphotos
I need to finish redoing frans icons, been busy and just kinda tired in life.
But something I've been thinking about is the fact that the Victor and his Monster dynamic is an ouroboros. They cause each other a cycle of suffering, and I think that's something that a lot of people gloss over in the grand scheme? Like the Monster is the original victim- Victor made the monster and abandoned him; the monster was chased away and treated like a freak. A monster.
But that doesn't mean the monster isn't guilty. Like revenge fantasies are great and all, but the Monster burned down Victor Frankenstein's entire life by dragging down innocent people with him. He killed Victor's best friend, his little brother, his wife. Victor's (essentially) adopted sister was hung after being framed by the Monster.
The Monster is the living embodiment of all of Victor's flaws, his hubris, his punishment. His shame.
Victor is the Monster's humanity. His father, his creator. His love and his despair.
I have a lot of feelings. People who know my OC know I go hard on questions with difficult answers, especially when it comes to the innocence and guilt of abuse victims. Because being hurt doesn't absolve you from doing horrible things. But here's the question I want to explore with Fran: where's the point when vengeance become unjustifiable?
I'm in a Fran headspace atm. If anyone wants a starter from her hit that ♡
I do have a Fate verse, but I do also have a not-dead verse for Fran for any muses non-Fate associated. Multis specify, please.
One thing I want to note that pretty much differentiates my Fran from seemingly canonical Fran is her lack of hate. Her want for love, but her mistaking the love she wants as being romantic. That's not what exactly she wants. In general, Fran wants to be loved. Platonically, familially, romantically... Any love will do.
She wants to love and have it reciprocated back to her.
The other thing is her regret. Though, based on the light novel and flashbacks of Apocrypha I don't think this is necessarily not canonical. Fran loves Victor. Wanted him to love her, despite his violent and abusive behavior with her. At Victor's death, Fran realizes she can't ever be forgiven. She's just a monster, filled to the brim with regret, with a father who would never forgive her, and never smile at her, no matter what.
Which translates into Shakespeare's use of the First Folio, both showing the past of him hurting her and Fran begging for the one thing she wanted. Then flipping between showing exactly what she wanted, Victor to smile at her, to treat her gently, like a father would any daughter. But she knew this was wrong. This wasn't right. And showing that is exactly what caused her freakout and breakdown.
Because she knew she was a monster whose father never loved her enough to even give her a name.
New offical illustrations of Fran? Shes so cute GOD HER SMILE IM GONNA CRY I LOVE HER

I’m making my own • Canon died in a ditch somewhere
Don’t tell me that the kind ones aren’t strong.
They’ve been thrown in fires but that has only hardened the iron in their veins. They’ve learned how to protect the ones they love even if it means taking the punches for them. They’ve used their warm hearts and helpful hands to reach out to people instead of hiding behind walls of hatred. They have helped guide the lost ones home because they know what it feels like to be caught in a storm.
It takes a great deal of courage to love freely, to give even though sometimes people won’t return the favor, and to hold out a hand without knowing whether someone will choose to grasp it or not.
The ones who reach out are stronger than you’ll ever know, because they’ve stared the misery of this world in the eye and instead of losing hope, have decided to just be kind.
