Hi! My name is August, formerly dendrocluster. I'm 26. Filipino and he/him transmasc. I play on the North American Data Center, specifically on Zalera, Crystal. This is where I post FFXIV related stuff. I am not spoiler free, but I do avoid posting story related stuff in two weeks time of the most recent patch. Sometimes I make graphics, work on commissions, talk about my characters, share my GPOSES and post FFXIV and other Square Enix music.

i also talked about the concept of endless in comparison to the soul killer program in cyberpunk 2077. here's a copy paste:

like. both are presented as this absolute worst-case scenario where your self is gone, but something that looks and sounds like you still exists. in cyberpunk, soulkiller rips your mind out, copies it, sticks it in a box — and the original you just flat-out dies. in ffxiv, endless hollows you out piece by piece until you’re just an echo of yourself, stripped of memory, stripped of genuine free will. same nightmare, different genre. you are programmed to perform according to how your original self behaved and nothing more and the narrative weight is the same too: death is one thing, death is natural. but this is the violation of identity. survival that isn’t survival. continuity that’s a lie. idk i just think it’s really fascinating that these two completely different settings landed on the exact same existential horror: the soul carrying on as nothing but data, but the "you" being irretrievably destroyed.
