The Door to Hell, Turkmenistan - Situated near the small town of Darvaz in Turkmenistan. About 40 years ago geologists were drilling for gas when they encountered a very large cavern underground filled with a poisonous gas. They ignited the gas expecting it to burn off in a few hours. Angkor Wat, Cambodia - A huge temple complex (wat means temple) build by king Suryavarman II in the 12th century at Angkor to be his capital city. It still is a religious place for both the Hindu and Budhist, but most of the poeple who visit Angkor Wat are tourists. (outstandingplaces.com)
