I hate when I go to copy a picture and it doesn’t paste. Do not disobey me.
Someone is eating a fresh orange in this McDonald's. I smelled it and my head snapped up like a hunting dog. That smell doesn't belong in this wicked place

i know everyone has picked up on the "dont talk about womens bodies" canard re: anorexia becoming trendy again, but has anyone else noticed a bizarre talking point in some progressive spaces wherein being anorexic is framed as like......a bodily autonomy issue. or a body positivity issue. like "such and such celebrity is CHOOSING this for themselves" or "we need to respect what people do with their bodies even if it's harmful" like it's a choice we're supposed to respect and not a mental health condition with a very high mortality rate. because i keep hearing shades of it from ostensibly intelligent people and it's making me feel some sort of way.
i imagine this comes from a good faith desire to be egalitarian, i.e. the same principles that lead one to framing fatness as normal prompts you to do the same for thin bodies, even when it's by way of an eating disorder. but it's not a 1:1 thing, one that betrays a misunderstanding of both fatness and eating disorders.
for one, anorexia is not a choice, it is a mental illness -- an extremely deadly and risky one at that -- built around the illusion of control. while someone may choose to intentionally lose weight, and some may even choose to begin disordered eating habits (i did this), i'd wager no one with an ED or ingrained disordered habits maintains them solely by choice.
secondly, this (intentionally or not) adopts the dual-pronged fallacy that being underweight due to anorexia and being fat are both the product of disordered eating. i say "dual-pronged" because this also suggests the additional fallacy that all anorectics are underweight or even slim to average weight. contrary to popular belief, one can be fat without having an eating disorder (especially when the social definition of fat is incredibly nebulous and subjective. to some people, 120 pounds is somehow fat). one can also be slim and eat enough food to maintain health without having an eating disorder. by definition, one cannot be slim due to anorexia nervosa without being, well, anorexic.
i understand not wanting to body shame (as it were) people simply for being sick. i think this is an appropriate framing of the conversation. people with eating disorders should be allowed to exist in public, even when they're not in recovery yet. that being said, to reframe it through the lens of Choice and Autonomy is at odds with the very source of the disorder itself.

медленно, но оперативно, приходит осознание, что я закончила школу, лучшее ощущение в мире, жаль оно пришло так поздно а не в начале лета((
The Nursery Entity attempts to mimic its surroundings, but it's hard to blend in when you glow like a cathode ray tube. It emitts a crackling hum similar to that of an electrical pylon, or sizzling bacon. It also emitts an electric current at a frequency of 60 hertz, leading some to believe it is North American in origin.
