Laziness

As i've said before, having a relationship with God isn't once sided. For me, especially as a relatively new believer, to build the relationship up it requires work, patience and perseverance. And i'll hold my hands up and say there's something that gets in the way of that... laziness! Even now, there was effort required in opening up my laptop and writing this post. 

So, starting from today, I plan on diminishing that laziness in every aspect of my life. Instead of walking past the overflowing water cooler at work, i'll empty it. Instead of putting off the dishes, i'll wash them up. And instead of watching endless Jimmy Fallon videos on Youtube, i'll make time to study the Bible and talk to God. 

Small steps, but I believe they'll pay off.

Long time no speak

Last night was the first time I prayed in a long time. It wasn't much and I didn't think long and hard about it. I saw someone asking for prayers whilst they searched for a new home, so I did. That night I had a dream about a long lost friend, a follower of Christ, who told me they forgave me. I was flooded with joy in that dream and awoke to grab my phone to find that their family member had connected with me on Facebook. I haven't spoken to them in about 3 years. I find that looking for signs can play tricks on your mind but it's amazing how God can surprise you with them. I believe he was reaching out to me. 

26 In the same way, the Holy Spirit helps us where we are weak. We do not know how to pray or what we should pray for, but the Holy Spirit prays to God for us with sounds that cannot be put into words. 27 God knows the hearts of men. He knows what the Holy Spirit is thinking. The Holy Spirit prays for those who belong to Christ the way God wants Him to pray. (Romans 8: 26-27 NLV)

Having a relationship with God is teamwork. And team work involves endurance, pushing outside your comfort zone, action, happiness, tears, sweat, listening, learning and above all, loving. Don’t let your relationship with God become a mere one-sided conversation, where you’re not willing to participate.

Today let me reassure you that God knows right where you are, and He knows how to get you to where you need to be. Even when things don’t go the way you planned, His hand is on you. Do not be afraid. Trust that God is working behind the scenes on your behalf, and that He will lead you into the life of blessing that He has prepared for you.

Work Issues

Work has been very busy this past week, not just for me, but for others around me.  A good friend of mine text me tonight asking for a bible verse for encouragement and support. I decided to send him Philippians 2:14-16. 

Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of Godwithout fault in a warped and crooked generation. Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky  as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.
