10 years ago today Imagine Dragons released their debut album. Since then they've grown to be one of the biggest bands in the world, never forget what started it all though. Night Visions turns ten years today and will forever be remembered as something great.
One song in particular that the older and farther away I get, the more I realise what I was talking about, it was Radioactive. That song, I think a majority of people listening to it think it’s about a post-apocalyptic thing or superhero thing. My manager sent me an article where somebody, like some popular article said that I wrote this about a Spiderman movie? Completely false. I don’t know where that came from. Anyway but just recently, I listened to it and realised what I was singing about, which throughout these years I’ve always said “oh this song is about depression in general”. But what it really was about was, it was the core principle of Night Visions, which was all about “K, mormonism is false, I feel like and my whole life I thought it was true”. Welcome to the new age, welcome to the new birth of finding spirituality. It was completely about….not saying “oh well, everything you thought was true, was not true so I give up” instead it was saying “okay, everything I thought was true was false but that’s okay. That doesn’t mean that everything is false. There’s probably some truth out there and let’s go find it.” Welcome to the new age. I’m waking up. You know I feel it in my bones. It was all about me not giving up hope after losing Mormonism. That was it. And it took me a long time to confront that cause it was especially scary for me at that time"
