To the person who has had it with their life and themselves. To the person who needs hope. Please read this.
You are beautiful. You are loved. You are significant. You are seen. You are known. You are valuable. You are accepted. You are chosen. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. You are WORTHY. These aren’t anything you have earned by your own doing. These aren’t anything you have to strive for and maybe you’ve spent your whole life striving for people to understand you, accept you and love you, but you’re met with pain and rejection each time. I want you to know that there is someone out there who COMPLETELY understands you and SEES you and KNOWS you. This person has seen you at your DARKEST and has loved you throughout it all. This person chooses you IN YOUR MESS. This person has seen you in your brokenness and darkness and WANTS YOU. Where everyone else has abandoned you and said you’re too much or can never measure up and made you feel unloveable and unworthy, this person says you are MORE THAN ENOUGH. Your mess doesn’t scare him, it doesn’t make him want to leave; all it does it make him want you even more. He doesn’t care what you’ve been through, he doesn’t care that you don’t have it all together. He accepts you right in THIS VERY MOMENT. HE KNOWS every single rejection, every heartbreak, every tear shed, every lonely night wishing someone could just hold you, every sleepless night where it’s just you and the prison that is your mind, every time that you sat there in your room wishing that someone could just TRULY love and understand you. He’s seen it all and it breaks his heart. He wants to show you that there IS someone who can fulfill all the desires of your heart.
There is a space, deep in our hearts that is longing to be filled and maybe you’ve tried to fill it with other things but you’re always left unsatisfied. This space is there in your hearts for a reason, so that you can realize that there is only one thing that can fill it. Unconditional love. True, unconditional love is unlike anything you’ve ever known. Unconditional love is being rejected, ridiculed, and hurt by the very one that it chooses to love, yet doesn’t turn its face away and seek revenge. No, this love chooses you when you hate him, accepts you when you reject him, wants you when you don’t want anything to do with him. This love has died for you so that you can have life. This love has been pursuing you and has never stopped and will never stop chasing after you. All he wants is YOU. This love has promised to NEVER ABANDON you NO MATTER WHAT. You will never have to be afraid of him leaving. You don’t have to beg him to stay, you don’t have to strive for his love, his approval or his acceptance. Your identity is found in him, a precious son and daughter of God. That is something that will never change and can never be taken away, because nothing can separate you from his love. You were never supposed to earn anything that you’ve spent your whole lives striving for. Love, identity, acceptance, significance, those are already given freely to you by his grace. He knows how much you have struggled with believing you are loved and worthy and he went to great lengths to prove it to you by dying for YOU because YOU ARE WORTH IT. You were worth every ounce of pain, ridicule and rejection. And he would do it over and over again just to show you how loved you are. No matter how many times you turn away, he still chooses you and runs after you.
I know how hard it is for you. Trust me, I am in your shoes right now. But I have hope, I can survive each day because I know this truth. His love will change your life. I promise you that. If you seek him with all your heart, you will find him. No strings attached, he loves you and always has and always will. He will take your broken heart and go to the ends of the earth to find the pieces and put them back together. You have believed lies about yourself for far too long; they aren’t true one bit. You are not too much. You are not crazy. You are not stupid. You are not a failure. You are not an idiot. You are not a burden. He wants you to see yourself through his eyes, he wants to show you. He wants the most beautiful, intimate, life giving relationship with you. All you have to do is reach out to him. He will never force you to let him in, he wants an invitation. Because love is a choice. His love is gentle and tender. He wants to soften your heart and break down the walls. He is waiting with open arms. Jesus loves you, so much, more than you’ll ever know.
