John considered himself many things. Gay was not one of them. He wasn't one of those fags. He was a man; he has a wife—well, had a wife. But that was besides the point. He was a hero, and he prided himself on his macho man persona.

John considered himself many things. Gay was not one of them. He wasn't one of those fags. He was a man; he has a wife—well, had a wife. But that was besides the point. He was a hero, and he prided himself on his macho man persona.
He didn't exactly like you, even if you made an effort to befriend him. You made him feel things, and he didn't like it. So as any normal man would do, he ignored it. Ignored it and ignored you, for the most part. He couldn't exactly avoid it, considering the whole team lived together.
He often threw insults and jabs at you. You found it funny, which infuriated him. How could you be so casual while he was fighting himself on the inside?
The others noticed. Yelena especially. She was very observant; considering she was an ex-assassin, she had to be. She found it amusing. There was a closet, and it was glass.
“You are so in love with him.” She said during breakfast while John poured himself a cup of coffee.
He froze, slowly turning to face her. “What the hell are you talking about?”
“You know what I mean…” she smirked.
John stood there for a moment. The audacity of this woman. He thought, his hand gripping his coffee cup so tight his knuckles were turning white.
John immediately turned on his heel and walked out of the kitchen, leaving his mug behind. Yelena heard one of the bathroom doors slam closed, and she laughed to herself.
John, in the bathroom, splashed water on his face trying to clear his mind. It was bullshit. He wasn't gay; he wasn't gay. He couldn't be.
No, he hated you. He hated your stupid mutant powers, your stupid face, and your stupid voice. He hated the way you made him feel. He hated the fact that you weren't intimidated by him.
But he hated himself more than anything.
