i dont like how the way meliodas was written canonically, and its like any classic regular shounen mc, which is shallow and he was only popular due to his demonic powers, not writing...
i want to write him by the way he have the " pure evil - good - broken" timeline in his life, and he repented because of the guilt that consumed him, not because of his love to elizabeth only. he is pretty much more shy, quiet and introverted, but not like those "owo i am a shy bean" kind of guys. like being more quiet and reserved due to the clinging guilt upon him. and i wanna use the love story between him and elizabeth as SUBPLOT, not MAIN PLOT like the canon one, which is really shallow. the entire nnt revolves around his life, not because of his love interest to elizabeth only.
"i hurt everyone... and even now, i couldn't forgive myself. i will never forget about what i have done..."
and he doesn't want to confront his old comarades, the ten commandments, and his younger brother out of guilt and betrayal he made towards them too.
at the first season of nnt, unlike canon, the world then immediately saw meliodas as nothing but the devil of resentment. they called him the 'devil of resentment'; due to his past as the ex prince of the demon realm. "puny shameful devil he is, why is he even a holy knight, if he wish to perish all livings?!" at first, upon hearing this, all sins except for merlin and ban saw him in disdain and resentment. however, instead of showing his wrath, he remained silent, guilt and shame etched on his face. because he knew that wrath is the reason of their resentment towards him. that's why now, he decided to let the guilt consume him, as he was cursed with immortality.
"everyone deserves a second chance, and he deserves the penitence that pays all of his guilt and shameful past. nobody can stop from making mistakes." eli said, to defend him.
and the moment where he fall to corruption again, he transformed back into old himself. "this is who you truly are, MELIODAS. a true manslayer that loathes every livings. you are the DEVIL OF RESENTMENT. YOU ARE THE REASON WHY THE WORLD IS BUILD UPON RESENTMENT. a truly corrupted fiend." basically here, zel is guilt tripping meli, while meli was surrounded by the other 10 commandments. "show it. SHOW THE WORLD ABOUT WHO YOU ARE TRULY." and so then, meli got a crash out, caused him fall into corruption, once again.
so, we all know why is meli called as 'traitor' by the demon clan, because he betrayed his own people out of love to eli. that's a pretty good excuse, but i dont want to use it in my version. mine? ill make him called as one because he does not resemble the commandment he held to his people ( love towards his people ), his usage of forbidden knowledge, that cannot be used by him, but he did anyways, in the holy war. and also how he was defying his father's orders too. he also start the war himself, not because of the forbidden relationship between him and eli, but because of his rejection to accept the law of nature. yes, I DO NOT MAKE MELI THE STRONGEST IN THIS SHOW. but i want him to be the mc that is known to his characteristics, not because he is a demon king.
