oh heart of ice and mind of gold, what am I to do with you? you are only good in small amounts, bittersweet fledgling, you are hard for most to swallow. your spirit is strong, your wit is potent, your biting essence drives even the most daring away. but why are you hiding your sweetness? I know within you, you are soft, but humanity has made you bitter. you mask your pain and sorrow with spite and sensibility. you say you do not care about trivial things, but don't you? sweetheart relax. you can let down your drawbridge, the waters are not poisoned. I know you have looked monsters in between the eyes and scoffed at them, but please, relax. you think your armor protects you but it is smothering you slowly. little owlet, when will you learn, words can only get you so far? feelings are what makes this world pulse. do not suppress your feelings. your heart can still thaw my dear. trust.
Bowie took a deep breath as he sunk down into the office chair and stared at the message that he held. He could barely read it because he was shaking so bad, and what he could read he couldn't even believe. It made his blood run cold, and droplets of sweat beaded on his forehead. Letting out a deep shaky breath he swallowed hard when he heard a noise, startling him out of this thoughts and quickly shoving the message in his back pocket as his gaze fell on the person who had just walked in.
"H-Hey," He said. His lips pressed into a line as he cleared his throat and tried to push the memory of what he had been looking at out of his mind. "You uh, you need something?"
I want to be here... i want to write on all my blogs.
It's just hard, and disheartening, and finding new writing partners is like pulling teeth because every major fandom rp tag i go into is full of one liner ask blogs that tag every single ask and in character post they make with the fandom rp tag making it genuinely unusable for all of us.
Bowie’s high school experience had it’s ups and downs.
Firstly he moved to an entirely new state, new city, new school district and had to find and make his own friends who were already paired off and had known each other for years which was hard. His mom worked a lot leaving him usually by himself. Then of course there was the whole ordeal with Talia and Cassiopeia that he brought upon himself. But there were good things about his high school and teen years too. He was always a good student, and while it had sucked to have to suddenly make new friends at such an awkward transitional period of his life he did manage to make some great ones.
It was also when he met Ivan and the entire Laurens family, and he started therapy which all helped him become who he is today. So all in all Bowie would say his high school years weren’t exactly good, but they weren’t entirely bad either. They were pretty middle of the road all things considered, even so, you couldn’t pay him to go back to those days.
Bowie is pretty solid at waking up at 8AM most days, if for no other reason than running Solis Music.
He has one alarm to wake up, and then he tends to scroll on his phone for a little bit, kicking off his day with a slower start so he has a second alarm for 15 minutes later to actually get out of bed. From there he makes his breakfast, usually something quick and easy, toast or a bagel and coffee.. He likes savoury breakfasts more than sweet ones, though he’ll seldom turn down a waffle if offered.
Once breakfast is over is when he takes his shower, and gets dressed. Being a small business, Solis doesn’t have any sort of strict dress code, so he’s usually quick by grabbing a pair of black straight leg jeans which he has plenty of, and whatever random tee he pulls out of his closet. Then that’s his morning done and he’s out the door.
Bowie showers every morning as part of his routine.
He’s really not really a bath person at all he hasn’t taken one since he was probably 7. He uses Dirty body wash, and has Guardian of the Forest body spray for after the shower, anything that’s earthy with a hint of citrus or mint he really likes. Regarding his hair he just uses unscented shampoo and conditioner which are entirely separate processes and not any sort of 2 or 3 in 1. The idea of those products even existing make Bowie’s skin crawl. His toothpaste flavour of choice is called coconut whip.
Discovering his Bisexuality, First Boyfriend & Coming Out
Growing up all his friends had moms and dads even the two or three of them that weren’t actively married or living together, his grandpa was married to his grandma, and despite being single Bowie never saw his mom in a relationship with anyone. On tv and in movies, it was pretty much always the guy getting the girl, or the girl breaking up with the big shot business guy to get with her former high school crush that never left their hometown and taught her the true meaning of Christmas isn’t about presents or money, but the presence of the people you love and care for. So there really wasn’t a whole hell of a lot that even let him know liking boys was something possible for a another boy to do.
He first started realizing that he liked girls when he was around 12 or so. Not only did he realize that he liked girls, but he quickly learned that girls liked him back. Bowie was more than happy for years to flirt with girls, kiss girls, hook up with girls and even date girls… though that last one never quite ended well for him. He had a few girlfriends, and a few almost-girlfriends. The actual ones all dumped him, but the roughest breakup of all was Eleanora after 9 months of dating.
It was only a few months after that that he was invited to a party by his friends who wanted him to stop moping around and in a funk. It was at this party that he met Zachariah, a beautiful young man, an aspiring artist with fluffy black hair. Bowie hung out with him pretty much the entire party, and when Bowie went to leave Zach made sure to give his phone number. After that Bowie and Zach pretty much became inseparable, always texting or hanging out, or making plans to go to shows & following through on those plans.
When they’d go out in public though, it wasn’t out of the ordinary for girls to sometimes approach the two. When they approached himself, Bowie always felt a little bothered, slightly upset that his time with Zach was being interrupted. When girls approached Zach though… he realized that he felt… jealous. He talked it over with his therapist on a few occasions, and eventually came to the realization that the reason he felt upset and jealous was because he liked Zach. He has a crush on him. On New Year’s Day, a few months after Bowie had turned 19, him and Zach were heading to Zach’s apartment arm in arm after getting a little drunk at a party with other friends. Thankfully the alcohol not only gave him an excuse to stay longer and alone with Zach but it also gave him the courage to admit his feelings. Even more thankfully Zach shared his feelings, the two kissed in his living room and they began dating.
The first person other than mutual friends to find out about the two of them dating happened six months later, and was actually Ivan, when Zach stopped by Solis before close one night, he had walked out from the office in the back just the two young men greeted one another with a kiss. Caught and flustered Bowie and Zach quickly said their goodbyes and Bowie closed up the store before heading to the back office. He nervously rambled a long speech to Ivan, from the break up with Eleanora to meeting Zach, to realizing his feelings to now dating him. Bowie felt like an elephant was sitting on his chest as he paced across the room while over explaining things and apologizing for what had just transpired in the front of the shop. He felt like a trillion years passed, he thought he was going to throw up and then Ivan spoke and all he had to say about it was one single word.
“Okay.”
Bowie was confused, but relieved enough to actually sit down across from Ivan. When pressed for what he meant beyond okay. All Ivan did in response was shrug and say that he was grateful that Bowie felt comfortable enough to tell him, and that Zach, same as Eleanora had been, was allowed to visit and spend time at the shop as much as they wanted- so long as it didn’t interfere with helping customers or other responsibilities. Ivan nodded finally and said.
“I’m proud of you. He seems nice and you… you seem happy.”
It was one more month before Bowie introduced Zach to his mom over a nice dinner that him and Zach made together. She was admittedly a little more surprised at the new than Ivan had been, but just as supportive and accepting.
By the time they celebrated their first year everyone important in their lives were aware of their relationship an Bowie moved in to Zach’s apartment.
When Bowie was sixteen he got into his first relationships. Plural. Talia Strand, and Cassiopeia Andrews. Talia was a red headed girl, she liked true crime, and was a fantastic storyteller who was very interested in writing- which is how they met, at school in creative writing class. Cassiopeia (or Cassie, as she tended to be called) was a black girl, who wore her hair in braids, she loved art, live music and science, he met her while taking Nova to the science center for her birthday for a few hours, Cassie was working there as a gift shop attendant. Bowie had really hit it off with both girls, managed to get both their numbers and eventually started to date them both. Without the other knowing.
Bowie didn’t really think too much of it. They were just dumb irrelevant high school relationships that wouldn’t last in the long run. So what harm could it really do? He dated the two of them for only three months, before one day they had both shown up at Solis to surprise him. It had been a slow night, so Bowie was thankful that there weren’t any customers around to witness the explosive confrontation they had not just with him, but also one another. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, Ivan was around in the back. When he heard the screaming he came out, and managed to deescalate the situation, before sending the two young women out of the store. Closing up that night, Bowie apologized to Ivan both for his behaviour and for it causing a scene in the shop. Ivan simply told him that he was not either of the people Bowie owed apologies to. That night Bowie tried to talk to them both and offer his apologies but neither girl would answer his attempts.
Bowie started therapy not long after that, at Ivan’s encouragement. He did a lot of inner work, realizing why he had cheated; deep down he didn’t think he deserved to be loved, so he self sabotaged before he could even be proved wrong.
He didn’t didn’t date anyone again until he was 18, when he met Eleanora while playing at an open mic night. She was blonde and petite, and she loved music just as much as he did. They had dated for nine months before she dumped Bowie leaving Portland in attempt to explore music opportunities. That break up took a toll on Bowie, it had really broke his heart.
Bowie’s most serious relationship was with Zachariah. They met not too long after Eleanora had dumped him, but he didn’t start dating Zachariah until a little while later, Bowie was at little older than 19. He was an artist, with long fluffy black hair. He was kind and compassionate, and he made Bowie laugh more than anyone else had ever met. They had dated for two years, and they’d had many serious conversations about their futures and their future together. They were considering moving somewhere new, New York, San Francisco, Chicago, and just starting a new chapter of their lives together. It might have seemed a little fast to anyone outside of the relationship but it had been Bowie’s longest one, and he really deeply loved Zach. Their plans were practically decided for them when Zach got accept to attend an art school out of state.
Just as they were about to take this leap of faith together… Ivan Laurens suddenly died. Leaving Bowie at a cross roads. As much as he loved Zachariah, the thought of Solis Music- a place that was basically a second home not just to himself but to Nova- closing it doors forever, and leaving Ivan and Nova without his legacy or a memory to hold on to was heartbreaking. So when Jaclyn approached him while cleaning up after the funeral if he would be willing to be partial owner and run Solis Music, he accepted, despite the fact he had only recently turned 21 at the time.
Him and Zach had talked about it, and argued about it. Bowie explained his reasonings, Zach reminded him of their plans. Words were yelled, tears were shed.. and in the end Zach understood why Bowie couldn’t leave Portland, and they both understood that they were going to be far too busy to handle a long distance relationship. So together they realized their only option was to break up. Ever since, Bowie has never officially dated anyone. He’s gone on dates, and had casual hooks ups with both men and women but none ever materialized into a more serious relationship.

{ KISSES 💋 } ----- Is your muse a good kisser? Have they ever had a bad kiss before? What's a memorable kiss they've had?
Bowie is a very good kisser. He has plenty of experience in kissing with a wide rang of people and has really perfected his skills in that area.
His first kiss ever wasn't anything too special. He was nine, she was nine, it was seven minutes of truth or spin the bottle (he can't even remember what dumb party game it was). It was just a quick peck. Though not necessarily bad. He's definitely had worse kisses, sometimes people just have too much saliva for his liking and it's just messy.
One of the most memorable kisses Bowie has ever had was with Zachariah, a boy he met through a friends a few months after a rough breakup with a recent girlfriend. Something about Zach was just immediately charming and they hit it off immediately quickly becoming best friends. But Bowie was slowly realizing he wanted something different than friendship with Zach, and having only been with girls prior it was something Bowie took some time to really come to terms with.
One night, after some party at a mutual friends house, the two of them headed back to Zach's apartment- if only so that Bowie's mom wouldn't learn of the underage drinking they'd been doing. Bowie awkwardly and bashfully confessed his feelings, thanks to the liquid courage he'd imbibed earlier in the night. Zachariah kissed him. Everything about it was perfect. It was like everything melted away and they were the only two people in the world.
On October 1st in Reno, Nevada, Bowie Frederick Anderson was born to a seventeen year old Claire Anderson. No father was present in the delivery room. Bowie went on to be raised in Reno by this mother Claire, and his grandparents; Freddie and Ruth Anderson. The three of them did their best to raise Bowie to know that he was very much deeply loved, and very much wanted. They did everything they did to teach him that family is family and all families are different and that’s okay. It worked… when he was five.
As he grew older Bowie couldn’t help but notice that his dad was never around. Not in pictures, not in their house, and he quickly understood that his mom and dad weren’t married but he never even showed up to family events, like birthdays, or Christmas. By the time he was 10 years old, Bowie had done the math in his head regarding the age difference between himself and his mom and in doing so he had a pretty good idea about why his dad was never around.
The man never wanted anything to do with Bowie. As a result Bowie doesn’t even know his name, even despite asking his mom for it a few times.
Around the time Bowie was 13 and nearing the time to start high school, Claire had managed to get a job as a nurse out in Portland, Oregon. This resulted in the small family of two moving out of Fred and Ruth’s house. It was rough for Bowie, new school, new state, new city, new people. His mom was working a lot, and he hated being alone. He missed his grandparents, he missed his friends from Reno. This loneliness reignited a lot of anger towards whoever his father was, thinking if the Man had actually stepped up they wouldn’t have needed to move to Portland in the first place, at the very least it would mean that Bowie wasn’t alone so frequently while his mom worked.
The anger would bubble up inside of him and result in him snapping at people who didn’t deserve it, he was also no stranger to get into fights at school. Until he found music that is. Bowie found Solis Music when he was about 15, he bought a guitar and quickly became a store regular. Eventually, he decided it was time for himself to get a job and one of the very first places he applied to was Solis Music. He really hadn’t thought he was going to get the job, when just before his interview he got in a scuffle with some bullies from school who were only scared off when they saw Ivan walk out of the store. Bowie was nervous during the interview, knowing that the way he had just acted didn’t exactly paint a responsible picture of himself. It was all the more shocking to him once the conversation was over that Ivan told him he was hired.
Ivan wasn’t just a boss, he very quickly became a mentor and something of a father figure to Bowie. He supported Bowie and gave him advice whenever Bowie came to him struggling with something. He encouraged Bowie to try therapy, recognizing the anger, and loneliness and destructive behaviour in the boy, not only did Bowie listen and start therapy, but it really did help him let go of a lot of of the complicated feelings he had regarding his mysterious biological father. Bowie owes so much to Ivan, and will always try to live his life in a way that would make Ivan proud.
