If anyone wants to know what a leopard seal sounds like đڎđЏ
Leopard Seals are what happens when god needs a lizard and all he has is a mammal
I'd recommend turning the sound on. The seal is not screaming. It's not very loud at all, actually, but the noise it's making is Much Worse.

Irinaâs muscles tensed as she heard someone approach; immediately relaxing with her brow twitching in annoyance. Edgelord.
âI just might,â she mused back, turning her head just enough to look at him; a faint ray of light catching her eye to reveal an unnatural, artificial orange glint. âI wouldnât be missed. Hard to miss someone who doesnât legally exist.â
Her cybernetics would ensure she would sink like a stone; swimming was not something she was particularly good at. âFigure my body would only pollute the sea, though. Not the oceanâs fault I am the way I am. Ah wellâŚâ
Leaning back on her hands, she huffed. âAnd why are you out here? I take your spot, or something?â
Drama queen.
The glint of amber light from her eyes took them by surprise, but it didnât show on their face. They squinted as they drew a deeper breath through the nose: under the scent of ocean air, he could smell... metal, plastic, the heat of electronics. Much stronger than if she'd just had a cell phone on her.
Was part of her artificial?
What new hell were the humans inflicting on eachother now?
"The sea would thank you for your consideration, then. Salt water and circuitry don't mix, in my experience. If you're that determined, I'm sure you'll find another way."
They gestured to the dark expanse of water, where a distant ship light could be seen a ways away.
"I was going home," they said, resting their hands on their hips. "There's not usually anyone else out here this late."
A brow quirked. Interesting. So theyâd parsed out her cybernetics?
âHome? All the way out there? I donât see a rowboat moored nearby. Unless you plan on swimming back home, in which case, youâre even crazier than me.â
She hummed in thought. âNot that itâs any of my business. For all I know, youâre the Little Mermaid and you can talk to the fish.â
A soft scoff; more at herself than them. âOf course not. Well, whatever. Donât let me stop you if you wanna dive into that.â
The night was pitch black, the moon and stars cloaked behind overcast as Irina stared out into the darkness. Sitting on the edge of the dock, she listened to the waves crashing.
What would it be like, she wondered silently, to sink to the bottom of the sea? Alone and forgotten?
Life had been going poorlyâit wasnât exactly sunshine and roses, of course, butâŚ
It felt like her efforts were wasted. It seemed like everything she did to try and expose VentureTech failed. People talked about it for a few weeks, then nothing.
A heavy sigh. She closed her eyes and simply listened to the waves and the creaking of wood.
Vithren's catamaran was anchored a ways out from the shore. There was no dinghy to use to get back to it; he'd just swim. Any company that he might have been fooling around with was never taken back to his boat anyway.Â
His footsteps down the dock were quiet, all but drowned out by the crash of the water below. He paused at the sight of something at the end of it, though: a woman sitting on the edge of the wood. He drew closer, noting the sigh and deciding he didn't exactly care.
He paused behind her.
â... are you going to jump in or are you going to just sit there?â he said.

I may have said this before, but god help VentureTech if they ever go after someone Irina cares about.
She will be ready to go to war.
I love characters who are like "I'm a terrible person" but when you look closer it's more like
"I adapted to survive something and now I don't know how to stop being that version of myself."
I just made myself start crying thinking about Irina having to mercy-kill fellow test subjects, howâs your Saturday going?
To know the ocean, I have always felt, is to recognize the teeth it keeps half hidden.
Credit.

Angsty thought for Irina;
She hinges her own self-worth on how useful she is to the people she cares about, operating under the (very unhealthy) mindset that âI have to be useful or theyâll stop loving meâ.
Which can cause her to freak out if she gets incapacitated or severely injured, even if her friend/lover/companion means well by trying to make her rest, she gets scared.
âNoâNO! I can still be useful! I can still be useful, I PROMISE!! PLEASE DONâT THROW ME AWAYâ!â

Shit. Shit shit shit SHIT.
Irina sat in an alleyway, slumped up against the wall. She was gripping her side tightly, hand over a bullet wound. One of the VentureTech mercs after her had gotten a lucky shot in.
Iâm gonna bleed out at this rate. Need helpâŚ
She started to crawl, slowly and carefully, towards the exit of the alley.

And before Sunday is over, some unfiltered thoughts from Irina.
âI need to get railed, like, SO bad. But in a passionate way, you know? I need to be folded in a mating press while he makes out with me like the world is ending, and I need to fall asleep with his cock still inside me.â
having a best friend who meets your level of freak is unmatched. you present them with the most unhinged, deeply buried thought from the depths of your psyche and instead of blinking blankly they just go "oh absolutely"âand I think that mutual brain rot like that is the highest form of intimacy actually.
Irina is currently in an office chair, spinning around and kicking off the walls to roll across the room.
Which one looks better?
