December (and Beyond)

December is finish the novel month!

I have 5 chapters/scenes to write, probably another 10-15K to go but I'm excited to be back into my novel after taking the last 8 days off from writing!

other December goals

format novel for beta reading (I have to manually fix all the paragraph spacing :')) I'm going to be almost a month late to send it to my critique partner (E if you're reading this I'm so so sorry)

I'm doing my favourite thing and diving into the first draft with minimal worldbuilding! I ❤️ working backwards!

what I have going into the month

a scrivener document with 978 word outline

I've chosen a font for chapter headlines!

carnelian and citrine

an expensive Barnes and Noble 'Plot Twist' candle

a new notebook

amazing badges my friend created for our discord group (seriously they're so great I could cry)

and of course, friends who are also writing!

I feel like all this is more important than any "plot" or characters or timeline or worldbuilding.

Happy Preptober!

I always feel my most creative in the -ber months and even though it will be a strange november with so many people (myself included) distancing themselves from the nanowrimo organization I'm still planning to fast draft this fall! i just won't be officially 'participating' in (or donating to) the official event the same way I have in past years.

my shiny new idea is a 🐍✨🗡️ Dark Romantasy 🗡️✨🐍 and so far it's all vibes, not a plot in sight and we love it that way so I need to get prepping!

Draft 1 45,908 words - November 2023 - NaNoWriMo fast draft

Draft 2 54,173 words - May 2024 - re-outline - added 11 new scenes - + minor edits

Draft 3 66,032 words - September 2024 - readthrough - timeline - 30 (ish) big picture edits that needed fixing

& onward to Draft 4 aka the re-write - start new scrivener doc - chapter-by-chapter fixes no deadline yet but maybe??? winter/the new year
