This was the final logo that I designed for my cousin’s husband’s business. He really liked the simplicity and cleanliness to it. It fits with the style of his work.
These are some of the logo experiments and developments I did for my cousin’s husband’s business. I made them look very sharp and sleep and used colours that were similar to that of his work.
I wouldn't call it freelancing as such, but I was asked by a family member to design a logo for their husband’s new business called Urban Diviso which specialises in handmade bespoke marble furniture which separates into individual items but can be put back together to become a bigger piece. These were some reference images I was given which helped me get an insight into what kind of work he does and the style of it. The top image stood out to me the most as it is very angular and helped form the basis of the logo in my mind.
Just some of my logo ideas for self promo
These are the final images of my Piggy Bank app. I personally think I may have gone overboard with the use of colour, but I wanted my app to have a playful but meaningful look to it and something that would make it stand out against all the other money management apps that are out there.
These are some more developments of my app. Notice in these, the logo has changed, it was at this point that my idea and concept had changed and become set in stone.
These were some experimentations of my piggy bank app. And variations in my original logo. The final version of my app changed completely as did the original concept.

And finally week 3 of my icon a day project
Week 2 of my icon a day project
The first 7 icons of my icon a day. This was week 1
Some developments of my Torch icon. This was probably one of the hardest icons I had to design as its one of those icons that has to look like a torch and not an idea icon as the lightbulb in this picture shows. The very top image is the final version of my torch.
This is the final of my 2 apps. This is the Shiftr Apple Watch companion app. I wanted to create this for people who have an Apple Watch so that it would work as an extension to the main Shiftr app. Creating this was a challenge as the Apple Watch screen is so small, I didn’t have much real-estate to play around with and because space was so limited, it limited me to what I could include. Therefore, I opted to create a very quick app that acts as a smart notification. The user basically taps one of the icons on the main screen and they are presented with the shifts associated with that time of day and month. If the user has more than 2 shifts in that month, they simply turn the Digital Crown and they will be able to see more upcoming shifts. The final screen just acts as an alert to their Apple Watch alerting them that they have a shift coming up. Even though I am proud with what I was able to design, I can’t help but feel as though its lacking. If I had more room to play around with, I could have added more, but that would have meant creating more screens and if a user had to navigate even more screens, it would distract from the overall simplicity that I was trying to aim for.
The finished screens of my Shiftr app. I’m really pleased with how it has turned out. I’ve taken so much time to create something that, I personally, think is truly beautiful. I have tried to keep the theme consistent and clean throughout and minimising the use of clutter and ornamentation. From the top to the bottom the screens are:
Main Screen - This is the screen that you are first greeted with when opening the app for the first time. After using the app for the first time, you don’t see this screen again.
Calendar View - This is the standard view in which the user will navigate around the app. It also shows what shifts they have on what day by colour coded circles on each day. The tabs at the bottom are smart reminders so that the user never forgets what shifts they have. They simply tap them and they will be taken to the Shift Overview screen.
Main Settings - This is the screen in which all the settings of the app is displayed.
Alert Screen - This screen allows the user to specify how often they are alerted when they have a shift coming up. This also coincides with the Apple Watch app (if the user has one.)
Repeat Screen - This screen specifies how often the alerts will last.
Shift Colours - This settings screen allows the user to specify a colour to indicate what shift/job is on a particular day. This will help the user in identifying what shift they have coming up. I’ve included a custom option to allow users to add or change the colours and the jobs.
Shift Add - By simply tapping on a day, the user can quickly add a shift and choose whether it is a day, night or overnight shift and change the colour of the icon accordingly to show what job is associated with that colour. For convenience, the app will also show the name of that job. And with a picker, the user can simply scrub up or down to change the time of their shift, making it easy to manage.
Shift Overview - When tapping on one of the smart reminder tabs, the user will be brought to this screen, its an easy way to see all your current shifts on one screen and easily move between months. I really feel that I have done a piece of work that I can finally say that I am proud of. This is the 3rd time that I have designed an app, and I have pushed myself to create something that I think is perfect. It took a lot of work and a lot of moving, tweaking and changing of individual elements. This to me, is my strongest piece of work I have done.
Some more development of my app. It was suggested that I added some kind of alerts, repeat and different kind of shift system into my app so that people with different kinds of jobs could use the app. I decided to use a colour coding system to help people distinguish the different kind of job they have. I also added a custom section which would allow people to add their own job and choose a colour of their own.
Some more screenshots of my Apple Watch companion app.
These are screenshots of my Apple Watch companion app, I tried to carry the same style and looks over from the app. I’m pleased with how its turned out. It does what I wanted it to do.
