This Youtube video talks about the use of text and image working together. it shows how teachers can analyse multimodal texts mainly focusing on linguistic and visual skills. the video shows how multimodal texts are a powerful combination of modes in the current meaning.
Week 8 Post
i didn’t have access to a camera.
The Running Record assessment was really good as it allows the teacher to articulate what the students read. There are different ways of identifying if the student has or hasn’t made a mistake. In the first row we can see that the student has made no errors. After that we can see that there is a consistency of errors. But in those errors we can see that the student has sounded out a word, three letters were sounded out and the last letter was identified but it still was an error. After that we can see that the student has begun to fix up the errors by self correcting themselves. Overall, we see that the students can start off strong and then finish on a low or it could be vice versa.
Week 7 Post
One of my goals at the start of placement was to help the students with their spelling words. As there were 3 different groups for the students in spelling. You had the rabbits-they were the students who were at a lower level, then you had the giraffes and the pelicans - these were the students who were middle to high achievers in spelling. I wanted to work with the students in rabbits. That was my goal. The classroom teacher had a THRASS chart in her classroom and so i helped the students who were at the lower level using this chart.
Another goal was for me to help the students with their grammar and Punctuation as the classroom teacher had told me that they had forgotten it. So she advised me to use this book called “Teaching English Grammar: A handbook for Australian Teachers”. This resource guided me through teaching English Grammar and Punctuation. It also provided step by step lesson plans if i ever got stuck. But the classroom teacher also helped me.

Week 2 Prompt:
While i was on placement at Keysborough Primary School. I saw that the teacher had a similar checklist to the one i have chosen. This checklist is a reminder for the students to use their capital letters, have punctuation and if they get stuck on a word they don’t know, they can then use their word wall or ask the teacher. This checklist was very good when I was on placement because the students were writing essays when i was there and looking back on this checklist they were able to see if they missed anything from the basics.
Week One Prompt:
One of my favourite books was called ‘Rainbow Fish’ by Marcus Pfister. I remember reading this in bed and at school as i really enjoyed looking at the colours of the fish and also touching the scales as it had glitter on them. Every page of the book was different to the other as there was a different material used on the fishes every time. I also remember having a rainbow fish toy that i really wanted after my parents got me this book. Then every night before bed my parents would read this story to me and i would snuggle up with my soft toy fish.
The school I went to had a lot of picture books in the library and in the classroom. I remember our teacher would take us to the library and we could choose any type of book that we wanted. I would always go for the picture books.
