A New Online Shop for Japanese Buddha Statues – Coming Soon

For more than 60 years, NAGAE has been preserving the metal casting tradition of Takaoka, Japan, where skilled artisans have crafted bronze works for over 400 years.

We are pleased to announce that we are preparing a new online shop dedicated exclusively to Japanese Buddha statues.

A Buddha statue is more than a decorative object. It embodies centuries of history, craftsmanship, and spiritual tradition. Each piece reflects the skill of experienced artisans who carefully bring every detail to life.

Our new shop will introduce authentic Japanese Buddha statues while also sharing the stories behind them—from the meanings of different Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to the traditional casting techniques that make Takaoka craftsmanship so distinctive.

We’re excited to announce that this weekend we’ll be taking part in the craft fair ‘Tsuginote’ in Takaoka-shi!

Event Details Crafts fair ‘Tsuginote’ brings together amazing craft artists and makers from all over Japan. It’s all about local creativity, where new ideas and connections spark something special for everyone involved.

Alongside the market and exhibitions, there will be workshops, food, music, and even a kids' area—all happening on the rooftop of the multi-storey car park in front of Takaoka Railway Station. You’ll also get to enjoy a stunning view of the city while soaking in the event!

Crafting Success: Takaoka's Tableware Takes Centre Stage in French Cuisine Competition

Yesterday, there was a wonderful feature in the Toyama Prefecture newspaper.

Mr Asano, the talented head chef from a luxurious five-star hotel restaurant in Kyoto, had the honour of being selected as the Japanese representative for an international competition celebrating French cuisine. What's exciting is that he used the exquisite tin and brass tableware that we had the pleasure of assisting him with.

Even with the tight delivery schedule, the tableware, a true testament to the remarkable skills and craftsmanship of our city Takaoka, was proudly chosen to represent Japan.
