I really want an episode of the Monkees where they crossover with Batman, maybe help fight the Joker. 1960’s Adam West Batman, obv 🦇✌🏻
Malicious laughter lurked in one of the back rooms of the city’s event hall where two security guards were tied up by the door. The Joker and his henchman stood huddled up, standing over a box that most people would mistake for a toy because it was purple and green with a smiley face on it. Most people would never guess the danger that lurked inside it…
“This is it, boys! Once I flip this switch, the wire will connect to the speakers and put out a frequency that will zap the brain and render everyone who hears it completely frozen in suspended animation!” Joker cackled at his brilliant plan, “Leaving them completely helpless as we pick the pockets of every millionaire philanthropist inside! It’ll be the most epic heist in history!”
“But boss, what about the Batman?” One of his henchmen asked.
Joker slapped him, “Shut up, Rocko! That’s why we went to California, you big dummy! Batman is all the way in Gotham City and we’re all the way here! There’s no way the Bat will ever find us here!”
Unbeknownst to the Joker, since this was a fancy party for millionaire philanthropists—Bruce Wayne was one of those in attendance, bringing along his ward, Dick Grayson. No one knew that they were secretly…Batman and Robin!
“Hey, Bruce, I got you some punch.” Dick brought up two glasses.
“Not alcoholic, I hope?” Bruce asked, accepting the glass.
“Of course not.” Dick reassured him then tilted his head, “Say, why do you look so gloomy? This is a party, it’s supposed to be fun.”
“I worry about my dear Gotham, Dick.” Bruce sighed, “It pains me to leave it, knowing the Joker just escaped from jail.”
“Well, whatever he’s planning, I’m sure the police can handle it until we’re back home.” Dick tried his best to reassure him, “After all, you’re only one person. No one can expect you to always be there whenever something pops up.”
“I suppose so. Thank you, old chum.” Bruce turned away with a sigh.
“Cheer up! After all, I heard the Monkees are going to play.” Dick grinned.
“Really? That’s that teenage band you’re always listening to!”
“Yeah it is!” His grin got wider, “They’re so cool! You think I’ll get to meet them?”
“I’m sure they’d want to meet their biggest fan.” Bruce replied with a wink.
Meanwhile, that very band readied their instruments on stage behind the red velvet curtains.
“Alright, guys, we got to do our best tonight, we got a big crowd. If this goes well, maybe these rich people will even recommend us to their friends and get us a steady stream of gigs.” Mike peeked out from behind the curtain, his jaw dropping, “Guys! There’s Bruce Wayne! He’s like one of the richest men in America!”
“What?!” The other Monkees crowded around him to try and get a peek.
“Gosh-a-rooney!” Micky’s jaw dropped in disbelief.
Peter started hiccuping, “Uh—uh oh! I don’t—hic—do well under press-pressure!”
“Now don’t you start that again…” Davy rolled his eyes and held a hand to his head.
“Just don’t sing into the microphone, we got to go.” Mike threw his guitar strap on then the curtains open and they were ready to go.
The crowd cheered as they started to play, performing Look Out (Here Comes Tomorrow). Despite the crowd being from a different class and age bracket, they seemed to enjoy Davy’s singing and the band’s general energy. Dick, the most of all, who danced energetically beside Bruce, using peace signs and bouncing on his feet.
“You got to admit, they’re really good, Bruce!” Dick said, still dancing.
“I dare say they are, Dick. If I were a teenager like you, they certainly would get my foot tapping.” Bruce replied, taking a cool sip of his nonalcoholic punch.
From the hallway, the Joker peered around, giggling to himself as he readied his disaster box, “One…two…three!”
He and all his men covered their ears as the signal went to the speakers—but nothing happened. Everyone was still dancing and enjoying the music.
“Boss, what happened?” Rocko asked.
The Joker looked at the crowd with confusion. His box’s attempt did nothing! Then he looked at the band, hearing their song, when he realized, “It’s those Monkees! Their music is blocking the signal!”
“Do we give up, Joker?” Asked another henchman.
“Never!” He hissed, “Wait until they take a break…as soon as they do, then we need to make sure that lead one, the short British one, won’t be able to sing another note!”
Uh oh! The Joker has an evil plan in store for Davy Jones! What will he do? Will the Joker succeed in robbing the rich? Will Robin ever get an autograph from his favorite band? Will Peter ever stop hiccuping? All that will be answered soon! Same bat time, same bat channel!
