This is why it hurts the way it hurts. You have too many words in your head. There are too many ways to describe the way you feel. You will never have the luxury of a dull ache. You must suffer through the intricacy of feeling too much.

Advice: Chapter Length
Anonymous asked: Hello, I wanted to ask you concerning chapter writing. My chapters tend to be almost 5-6 pages long, ranging from 1,700 to almost 2,500 words. If there’s conversations, the chapter stretches out up to 7-8 pages. Is there a certain standard to follow for chapters or word count in writing?
Chapters can be any length you want, and they don’t have to be the same or similar number of pages within the same book. One chapter could be three pages and the next eleven. A lot of writers do prefer shorter chapters, however, as readers tend to read a chapter at a time, and shorter chapters can help the reader feel they are making progress and motivate them to keep reading. Here are some ballpark word counts for different types of books.

Young writers should read books past bedtime and write things down in notebooks when they are supposed to be doing something else.
