The operative fallacy here is that we believe that unconditional love means not seeing anything negative about someone, when it really means pretty much the opposite: loving someone despite their infuriating flaws and essential absurdity... We don’t give other people credit for the same interior complexity we take for granted in ourselves, the same capacity for holding contradictory feelings in balance, for complexly alloyed affections, for bottomless generosity of heart and petty, capricious malice. We can’t believe that anyone could be unkind to us and still be genuinely fond of us, although we do it all the time.
lol
you never shut up i’m getting fed up that you choose to orbit around my space
we know this can’t work so why do you lurk and why am i so prone to being prey?
don’t care what you’re saying just care that you’re staying
we’re the last ones left every night yet only one where I could call you mine and i’m kind of keen to keep it on ice cuz i’d be a fool to fall for you twice
you sit next to me i think you’re funny do you realize that you hurt me so?
still catch you glancing still think you’re handsome still can’t tell if you’re a friend or foe
i’m choosing to trust you please don’t let me love you
we’re the last ones left every night i’m staying cool but I can’t stay nice and i’m kind of keen to kiss it alright would i be a fool to fall for you twice?
a new beginning doesn’t sound so bad if you promise that you won’t make me sad we could be something if you wanted that i know we’re both tryna stay detached
is it intimacy? or simply proximity? the surge of electricity every time we’re close
already had all of me then left me cold in the street my confidence atrophied how am i okay?
maybe i could restart you go max speed in my car knowing we won’t get too far…
we’re the last ones left on your last night i’ll do anything to squash my spite as long as i have you in my sight i have a feeling we’ll be just alright
