A little trip to Space NK today proved fruitful as I stumbled upon the most delicious shade of lavender. Rococo, from what I can gather is a relatively young brand, stocked in select spots, and finding its feet online.

Application is glorious, one layer and you have near exact bottle shade. It is cream based, perfect consistency, with no shimmer. Perfect for nail arting.

They call this Lady Lavender.

Aztec inspired mits, with an awful title. Sorry. I love the vibrancy of tribal prints, and they transpose so well onto nails. Perfect for festival season, perfect for hols, perfect for when you're feeling a bit Joseph Conrad 'Heart of Darkness'...

For the Assault:

1) Coat up with Essie: Mint Candy Apple. I find Essie quite translucent at times, so best to double up

2) Begin your tribal over tones: Nails Supreme nail art pen: Black. Draw a horizontal line as if giving a generous tip. Starting from the edge of the nail zig - zag meeting the horizontal line as a guide. Then fill in the traingles. Dot in between for detail. Next Outline a semi-circle 3/4 ways down (which you will fill in block colour later)

3) Layer it up: Nails Supreme nail art pen: Yellow. Strip across under the last black layer making sure to wait for the previous line to be semi dry.

4) Zig zagged: Organic Glam: Fuchsia. I used thinner and a paint brush for this as the nail art pens don't tend to give the most accurate of lines, and can be bulky. Repeat as if step one but leave the line unfilled.

5) Fill in your curve: Dior Vernis: Blue Denim. Paint carefully up to your black outline. Once dry use a Nails Supreme white nail art pen to add some more depth.

6) After all is said and done Seche Vite to lock in the colour and create an even landscape.

G E O M A T I C S

Geometric shapes, angles and straight lines. Graphic nails are hot to trot, especially in this pantone.

Today's armoury and strategy as follows:

1) Base coat: Essie: Cocktail Bling. Layer it twice, and wait to dry

2) Varying traingulars:Nails Inc: Elizabeth Street. I prefer to use nail thinner and a paint brush to apply these. The best is a long striping like brush, so you can maintain straight edges. Anything really goes here. I applied two layers to make sure the colour pops.

3) Dior Vernis: Blue Denim, for accents. Again using the same method- dilute the nail varnish with thinner to enable easy flow with the paint brush and paint your design atop of the larger shapes. Make sure you keep these smaller to add an interest in dimensions.

5) Top coat those paws with Seche Vite for added gloss and bling!
