There are two wolves inside me, constantly trying to eat each other

First Wolf: The way the relationship between Tifa and Aerith in the FFVII remake series has been developed is so important to me. Shipping culture has really made it so that platonic relationships and friendships tend to get overlooked, but platonic love is such an important facet of the human experience. I adore the way these girls are so fucking there for each other. Tifa's immediate acceptance of Aerith into the fold from basically their first conversation and subsequent protective behavior and support for her as the story progresses - despite Aerith's narrative potential to come between her and the man she loves - really speaks to what a beautiful and kind soul she has. And Aerith finally having someone who is kind to and genuinely cares for her as a person, not for what she is or what she could become or what she could do for them, is heartbreakingly beautiful to watch. They could have just depicted them as catty rivals for Cloud's affection, falling into love triangle and anime harem tropes, but they chose to allow these two women to develop such a strong bond. They giggle about boys together, plan shopping trips, are both physically and emotionally there for each other no matter what happens. Their friendship makes me tear up every time I think about it.

Ergo, 1920 was the year without a Santa Claus.
