WAYS TO QUIT BITING YOUR NAILS [A post by ohforfucksakesniall]
I know a lot of people bite their nails. Whether it be because of stress, or a calming sense. It’s not fun when you bite your nails and you tear into the nail bed and bleed! And i know you dont like the way your nails look, boy or girl, bitten nail beds are not good.
Now you could go to the store and buy that “stop nail biting” polish that “taste nasty” but you could easily get used to the taste and not even know what you’re doing! So here are some ways that have helped me stop biting my nails!
Method 1: Bandages.
Putting cheap bandages on your nail beds can help stop biting! They dont have to be the nude color, go all out. Neon, Hello Kitty, outdated One Direction bandages, go for it. Sometimes the nails and skin can get dehydrated or crack from lack of moisture so put some lotion on the pads of the bandages on put them on your nails!
Method 2: Gloves.
Gloves area great way to stop nail biting. In the morning or after school/work put on some fitting gloves, not too fitting so its not uncomfortable. But even not biting your nails for 4 hours at a time is a good way to build up a resistance! You can wear them to work or school if you’d like, its all up to you!
Method 3: Weening.
That’s right, weening. Out of all ten nails, pick only ONE to bite, leaving the rest of your nails alone. Do this for two maybe three weeks. After the others have grown, you’ll see how much better they look. After the others have grown, sacrifice another one. And watch the one you bit before grow, and you’ll see how good it looks and slowly ween yourself away from biting your nails!
Method 4: Visualization.
Take a photo of healthy nails from the internet and print it out and tack it on your wall and look at it each time you want to bite your nails and imagine those nails as yours. Once you start to visualize it, it’ll be easier to stop biting.
Method 5: Keep your mouth and hands busy!
Carry around a rubber band, pen, quarter, or anything to play with when you bite your nails so you can keep your hands busy and away from your mouth. Chew some gum or mints when you want to bite your nails to keep your mouth busy!
Method 6: Lastly, Maintain HEALTHY nails.
Not biting your nails is one thing but keeping them healthy is a whole different story! Always moustourize your hands, keep them neat and clean, file them to a shape you like and take time to take care of them. Paint them if you wish. But take a little time to take care of them. You’ll be amazed with how little work goes into keeping your nails amazing!

QUICK TIP #3
Its a known fact that biting your nails is equivalent to licking a toilet seat. YUCK!
So I’m 18, turing 19 soon, and I have always bitten my nails since I was a child. I decided it was time to break the cycle and grow my nails. I promised to stop bitting this new year and started my journey January 1 2015. I hope I can stop just like some people who are like me and grew out their nails.
Nail tip of the day:
Nail growth. Everyone wants nice strong nails, but sometimes its seems impossible for them to grow. Here are some tips to speed up the process (:
-Cuticle care: Taking care of your cuticles can help nail growth a bunch.
-To start out get some cuticle oil and just dab it on your cuticles, and then massage it into your cuticles gently. Next, with the right tool, gently push them back, but do not cut your cuticles off! They help keep out germs and bacteria for getting into your nails.
-After all your cuticles are pushed back grab some hand lotion/cuticle lotion and start massaging! The lotion must say cuticle care, Sally Hanson makes a great one. It will also make your hands soft.
-Nail care: Wash off the lotion and oil from your nails to prepare them. Then, use some nail strengthening polish to make your nails stronger so they are less likely to chip. Apply a nice coat on all nails. I also like to put it on the tips and edges of my nails to further prevent chipping. You can also apply a coat of nail growth under the strengthening polish if you wish to do so. (:
Hoped this helped!
