Our blog was created in order to share things that are important to us, things that are significant in our lives. Therefore, it includes an object, a place and a person that are significant to us. The word significant means that we bring a lot of importance, that touches us and we care about. Therefore, through the posts below, we bring you into our lives.

My significant object

My vintage pink box

What you see in the picture is my meaningful object. I decided to choose a very simple but important object for me, it is my vintage box. It is a light pink vintage type box, medium size, cube shaped, with a lid and tree motifs. It's quite thick and the contents are bulky, so I can put a lot of stuff inside.

It's an important box because my family gave it to me for my 21st birthday and they know very well the love and passion I have for boxes and vintage. Giving me both makes me happy.I have been collecting boxes for 9 years and talk about them all the time with my family.

When I get a new box, I stack it with the others in an organised way and fill each one with a different content whether it be beauty products, notebooks, accessories etc. I love to tidy, sort and store.  I like to tidy, sort perfectly, which is perhaps why I need lots of boxes. 

This box remains my favourite of all, as it is beautiful, vintage and perfectly shaped.I have been collecting boxes for 9 years and talk about them all the time with my family.

My significant object

My vynil disc cover

My significant object is a square pocket, made of cardboard. There is a drawing of an iron tower and a human being being projected from what appears to be a rocket launcher, or simply a missile projector. There are also garlands hanging from the top of the iron tower. The colours on this cover are black, blue, purple and yellow.

It is important to me because it was given to me by an artist whose work I really appreciate. He is an English musician and singer, Adam Gray, whose stage name is Chelou. Indeed, I went to his concert with two friends of mine and we went to see him at the end to ask him for autographs. He was selling vinyls from his new album, and he very kindly offered us one. The sleeve contained the vinyl record, as well as a paper document with drafts of his songs, personal annotations, and little drawings that he had added. So we shared the contents with each other.

At the moment, this cover hangs on my bedroom wall, next to the autograph in question.

My significant person

Mirana

The person you see in this picture with me is my cousin Mirana. She is the most significant person to me.

Mirana is my first cousin on my mother's side because our mothers are sisters. We are extremely close and I consider her my sister. Since we were little we have shared everything and to think that in 6 months she is getting married.

Tinah - "What do you think of me? Mirana - You are the one who knows me best, we have been through everything together and you are more than a cousin to me! Tinah - Oh, I feel the same way! I can't believe you're getting married soon, what's it to you, lady? Mirana - Honestly, I still can't quite get my head around it, but I want you to know that I'd be honoured to have you by my side on the big day!"

Mirana is the most significant person in my eyes because she is a loving, generous, listening person and she knows how to advise me at every moment. In spite of the many trials she has gone through in her life, she remains perseverant, whether it is in her studies or in her relationship.

My significant place

My room

My significant place is my room.

It is a place which is entirely mine, and that I can modify as i want.

It is very important to me because I now mesure the importance of owning a personal space. I grew up in a family of several children so I never had the oppotunity to have a room on my own until my siblings moved from the house.

Before, I was’nt really bothered by the fact that I hadn’t a room on my own but when they did go I realized how wonderful it was and now I couldn’t imagine to go back to a room with someone.

It is a place where I feel safe, comfortable and, most of the time, great. Moreover, it has my bed in it. I really love sleeping and napping so I spend a lot of time in my bed, which explains why I felt the need to mention it.

But it does not only include my bed, my room has almost all my personal material things too, all that I own.

It is the place I so desperately want to reach more than any other at the end of the day, and the one I can hardly leave in the morning.

Parc Astérix

Let's move on to my significant place! Let me introduce a place that is close to my heart, I simply chose Parc Asterix!

Parc Asterix is a tourist complex comprising a theme park and three hotels that opened on 30 April 1989. It is a French theme park dedicated to the world of Asterix and is a large amusement park for young and old alike, located in the department of Oise. The atmosphere of this park takes us straight back to the time of the Gauls and the Romans. 

Parc Asterix has been my favourite park since I was a child, because I am an undisputed thrill-seeker and this park is full of thrill rides.As a matter of fact, my parents used to tell me that when I was little and I was neither old nor tall enough to ride the roller coaster, I used to cry.

Parc Asterix is my significant place because I go there two or three times a year with my friends or family and each time I go there, I forget everything, I let off steam and I spend a unique and wonderful moment in the company of my loved ones!

My significant person

Lea

My significant person is my best friend Lea.

We have known each other since we were born, which means that she was my first friend and I was hers. Our mothers were friends when they were pregnant, and we grew up together. We even have a common aunt, a very good friend of both our mothers. She is a philosophy student at the University of Saint Denis and has a cat named Panda, which we found in the street, and which she ended up adopting after she followed us for a whole evening.

She was born on July 26, 2000, and I was born on August 10, 14 days later. The funny thing is that she was born very late, and her mom had to have a c-section to get her out, while I was born very premature. Because of this, we always say that we wanted to come out at the same time, and that's why she refused to come out in time, to wait for me. On my side, when I saw that she was already out, I hurried to go out quickly to join her.

She is the most important person in my life, the one with whom I have shared the most things, and she is also the only person I am sure to have by my side for the rest of my life, whatever happens. Ever since we were little, we always told ourselves that the one who dies first will have won, because she won't have to live without the other!
