âWell I donât know what you want unless you tell me.â It was her only answer, really. She couldnât think of anything more to say. Darcy felt strangely vulnerable around him. Though, he was the only one who knew of her shameful little secret.
"I-" Oh. Okay. Not knowing what he wanted was normal, right? Well, actually, no it wasn't. He usually knew what he wanted when he wanted it, but it's like he was thrown in the deep end. Before he can think, he blurts, "I want that kid to grow up with both parents around."
âWell if you donât want it, donât fucking ask.â she retorted, annoyance flaring.Â
"I didn't say I didn't want it!" he cries, throwing his hands up in the air.Â

RP with Jamie - Out of Milk
Would whooping and jumping in the air excitedly be in bad taste? Probably. It would probably annoy Nails too. And he didnât want that. He didnât want to disturb the rare moment of peace they had. But, even then, he couldnât stop himself from grinning wildly.Â
âPerfect! Ready for another word?â He drew out the two sets of lines again and prepped his hand to write then stop, turning to Nails in confusion. âIs Nails your real name?â
He thinks about the question, the huge grin he had at Jamie's praise fading slightly into a soft frown. Tell him or not? Could he even remember it?
"No," he says quietly. "Course not. Do you really think anybody would be crazy enough to name their kid that? No, it's a nickname. Don't even remember how I got it."
He nodded. âTrue. you have no idea how satisfying it was when I shot a bird in her face.â He got up and went to take two cans of Coke out of the fridge. He threw one over to Nails and took his place back next to him.
His eyes open in surprise. "You shot a bird in her face?" he asks between laughs. "How did she take that?"
RP with Camaztoz (Dude, woah. Where did you get that name?)
âHmm, pick-pocketing, isnât that a little pathetic?â Cam asked, trying to not remind himself thatâs what he did when he was still young, âMugging, pick-pocketing, various ways of stealing, which I donât approve off, therefore I donât keep anything in my pockets. Anything worth of value, anyway.â
His eyebrows raise and he laughs sharply. "Well, that's no fun, is it? How're people going to take what they want if you don't keep anything valuable?"
He rolled his eyes. âYeah, Iâm pretty sure Bravo pushed a pig Animal off a cliff.â He huffed and flumped onto the sofa next to him.
He barks out a laugh at the joke but shudders a little at the memory of Bravo. She was almost as scary as Priestly. "I can imagine shooting them through a canon would be more her style."
âUh, you asked, I gave. What more do ya want?â she said, her gaze drifting from his and lingering at her feet.
"Well I wasn't expecting you to do it, was I?" he says, quietly but a tad sharply.Â
RP with Jamie - Out of Milk
His eyebrows raised, a smile coming across his lips as he started witht he word. Then he stopped and Jamie feltâŠoddly disappointed. In truth, it wasnât exactly surprising that Nails couldnât read it yet, Jamieâd thrown him into the deep end, but he thought maybe heâd be able to read it. He was so close!
âCâmon. You can do it! Okay, here.â He pointed to the N. âN makes a nnn sound, you know that. An, like I said. A and I make a long A sound. You can do it. I believe in you.â
He wants to feel angry or annoyed at Jamie, to transfer what he feels against himself to an easier outlet. But he really can't bring himself to. He just licks his lips angrily and shoves against the table a little.Â
"Nai," he begins, concentrating as much as he can. And it sounds familiar, but obviously it's missing something. He looks at the swooping letter, the one curving upwards to the sky. "Nai..." He stops and thinks. Concentrates. Focuses.Â
"L," he lets out suddenly, a little ecstatic. "Nails. Nails." He looks up at Jamie questioningly. "That right?"
{OutOfNails}
âI was the right balance of charming and amazing.â He technically wasnât lying. He was under the spell of that weird grey faced guy at the time, but that was irrelevant.
"You? Charming and amazing?" he snorts, trying and failing to think of a smooth Jamie. "Have pigs started flying?"

+3 have found your integrity! Wait, no... It was just a quarter.
âOh, thaâ,â Matthew cut himself off, staring at the guy for a minute. Did he justâŠÂ Jamie? No, no that couldnât be right, see, because he hadnât seen Jamie for⊠Gods know how long, and, well, heâd never even met this guy before. âI, uh⊠No, I guess he doesnât. Dare I ask how y-you know him?â he asked, a quizzical frown on his features. This was weird. This was really weird. Not to mention coincidental. And even then, that doesnât even approach how inconvenient it was. If Jamie found out what his current occupation was⊠Heâd be gutted like a fish, to say the least. So, thatâs when Matthew decided to feign innocence. He smiled brightly, allowing himself to look bemused because, well, who wouldnât in this situation? But he didnât, by any means, allow even a shadow of guilt to cross his features.
Oh, so that's how the kid wants to play it. He raises an eyebrow, the corner of his mouth tilting up with it. Matthew's good, Nails thinks. Good enough to almost fool him. Almost. Because if there's anything Nails is good at, it's lying and spotting a liar.
"I'm his roommate," he says, not sure what reaction to expect. He thinks that maybe he'll get shock, or confusion (that's his favourite). Maybe he'll get recognition, but that's highly unlikely because he's pretty sure Jamie has no clue that Matthew is here.Â
RP with Camaztoz (Dude, woah. Where did you get that name?)
âHmm, sure you did.â Cam said with a tight smile. Was this man an idiot? Who even mugs people anymore? He learned from the 1800âs that, you should never carry valuables around but this guy was obviously stuck in that era. âReally? Mugging?â He questioned with a snort, âNot the best way to get money, now, is it?â
He doesn't even pretend to be surprised. He just laughs and actually, for once, has the knowledge to correct someone. "Actually, it's pick-pocketing. It's mugging if I threatened you, and I didn't." Nails smirks a little. "And it's a great way to get money, if people actually keep shit in their pockets like they're supposed to."
RP with Charles
His face morphs into a mask of genuine concern. For reasons even he doesnât understand, Charles has a deep empathy for strangers. Hearing Nailsâ story tugs at his heartstrings. He listens until the end, pausing to drum his fingers idly on the table in thought. Something in the story catches his attention.Â
âTaken?â Running a hand through his hair, he contemplates whether it is polite to question the man further. In the end, his curiosity gets the better of him. âIf you donât mind my askingâŠwhy? Who would imprison you an island and why?â
He's a little shocked at the question. Not because of the question itself, but because somebody actually wanted to know. Most people become, well, awkward at the information. Or think he's lying when he isn't. With a soft intake of a breath, he considers lying again. But he's in this far now, he might as well go on.Â
"I don't mind, I swear." He thinks of where to begin, how to start. "I'm, well. Shit, I don't know the real term. We called ourselves Animal's on the island. We have... Powers." He licks his lips a little nervously and tries to gain back his confidence, because he's feeling too vulnerable He (mostly) succeeds. "There's a little secret branch of the Government and they didn't like us. Were scared, I guess. So they took us."

With a disgruntled huff, she smacks him in the shoulder with her good arm for the first comment, and sticks her tongue out - the epitome of maturity. Not a punch, though, only a light thud to avoid having to say how about shut up out loud.
âI pissed off a dragon, whatâd you think?â she grumbled. Well, she had done that once, on second thought. She doesnât miss a beat when he starts walking, staying half a step behind him as he does, and holding her arm to herself defensively. âIâm not normal, and a bunch âa witch hunters thought that was something I should be put on the pyre for,â she finally conceded, hardly thinking heâd believe her anyway.
He listens as he walks, huffs a laugh at the dragon comment, and actually begins to feel concerned for the stranger. Which, okay, wow. He doesn't feel concerned. He doesn't feel, period. Except for the frequent annoyance he gets around Jamie, but that's normal. Jamie and annoyance come hand in hand.Â
"I have a few questions. First, not normal, how? Second, witch hunters? And third, pyre?" he asks, a little irritable that he has to ask the meaning of a word.Â
