Wow

Its been a whirlwind couple of months meeting you and falling for your humor, quirks and all of you. The way you kiss my forehead and stroke my leg you treat me like a princess. It was only a couple of months we promised we wouldn't catch feeling because its a limited time only deal You are now officially on the other side of the world beginning the exciting adventure of living abroad for a while I didnt think i caught to many feelings until it hit me that i cant just rock up and see you I cant help but feel a little sad, but most of all im excited for you. Who knows maybe in a year or so you come home and we try this again But if not thats ok to It was amazing and fun while it lasted and it taught me im no longer scared of falling and being hurt some people are worth the risk

Two years ago today the sun stopped shinning so bright and my world became darker, your smile would light up and room and your giggle could turn any mood around. So we have an Italian exchange student at our school. And he and I were hanging out and he saw a pony, and he tried to show me but he didn’t know what it was called so he just pointed at it and said “Look, the compressed horse.”  And then he just grinned at his complete understanding of the English language.

No guys, I need to stop and talk about something in this movie and how fucking revolutionary it was; something that I haven’t seen in a movie before or since.

This is a movie about a kid who leaves her birth family.

Not a kid who find that they have a secret lineage or something that allows them to find their ‘true family’ - this is a movie about a kid whose true birth family is made up of bad people. So she gets out. And that is played as the right thing to do. She isn’t punished for it or made to feel bad about ‘abandoning her family’. There isn’t an underlying ‘but they’re your family and you have to love them’ or ‘they’re your family and they love you even if they don’t show it well or do hurtful things’ message of the kind that I see OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER in media. Matilda gets out and lives happily ever after because of it.

We need a million more movies like this to counter the metric shit ton of movies that directly counter this message.

Real Fact:  These are the character meanings (which are the same across dialects and languages- I believe in Japanese kanji they have the same meaning)

In Mandarin Chinese they are (when spoken): Kou (mouth), mu (tree), huo (fire), men (door), yue (moon), ri (sun), shan (mountain), ren (person)

These are also all radicals (kind of like the building blocks) of other Chinese characters, as well as being characters (as you see above) in their own right.  Therefore, a person reading Chinese can determine some of the meaning behind the word’s character(s) by looking at their radicals.  

See, learning to read Chinese isn’t as difficult as it first seems.
