Hey all, my name is George and I am 19 years old. I was a student at Temple U but dropped out to enlist. I started to get into fitness during the middle of my junior year but made slow and stunted progress due to burning out and loosing interest. The end of my senior year I messed my knee up very badly during a Rugby match and spent the summer letting both my body and mindset slip. When it came to college I let my lifestyle get away from me as well. This blog is meant to document the journey to being back on track and is welcome and open to all who wish to join me. Best of luck to everyone taking steps to improve their lives and be the people they want to be, keep going HAM
No one is saying that oly lifting is only big because of Crossfit, just like no one said that Crossfitters are the next elite lifters. Itâs not helping the sport in way of producing top oly lifters; but in North America itâs helping the sport commercially by providing oly lifters a place to lift...
Just hit front squat at 135 for a single, barley missed at 155. I know weight is low but earlier this month I could not front rack at ALL and now it's halfway decent. Motivated as hell right now
Morning of heavy c&j, still workin on low catch position but it's commin along. Gonna hit a session of front squats, some accessory work (chest, a little more back, body weight work) and than back squats
So I feel like some people who lift may think this is funny. My Dad found this huge box of old dumbbells, like ranging from 2 lbs to maybe 5 lbs. I was like, âI canât even think of a use for these, we should just try to sell them.â
My Dad tossed them in the garage and promptly forgot about them....
Amna Al Haddad is a 23 year old Emirati who is training in hopes of representing in the United Arab Emirates in weightlifting at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
She is inspired and inspiring; a groundbreaking athlete and a freelance journalist. Her blog is here.
Also, my numbers on lifts are still pretty bad, but technique already vastly improved. Getting actually a little bit low on catch (shit never happened before) plus the front rack position is comming along! Elbows still low as fuck but hey improvement is improvement :)
First day of serious training all week, I know it was shitty of me but I really just needed those days to get my head straight and spend it with friends. Got decent amounts of body weight work in of course, can't completely neglect training even in moments of life crisis ;) lol
Honestly I act like I don't care, and it seems that way, but that's because it hasn't sunk in yet. In my head u still have you in my heart and I'm still in yours, it's when I remember you now off in the arms of another guy, and that I can no longer hold you or make you smile, words don't even begin to describe.....
The 8 year old that died today in the tragedy in Boston was a little boy.
Please fact check before you post things like this. People using Boston to note-bait are literally the most disgusting people in the world. Hereâs looking at you OP.
You love someone for over two and a half years, and one day with no warning, no explanation, you loose everything. Your told its for the best. Your told the love is gone. The love wasn't gone, atleast not from this end. Only a week ago you told me about the house you want to live in together and the family we would start, the night before you called telling me how much you loved me. I just have to ask Was any of that real? Why after giving devoting your heart and soul you still aren't good enough? Luckily took a random trip to Boston to clear the head
Parking on the 3rd floor parking deck for the gym 1$....Having a police officer proceed to ask if your ok/drunk cause he watched just how long and hard those stairs were.... Priceless
I have always been engrossed by the more "hard style" training methods. I love the iron, but just the appeal of throwing around a rock or log or kettle bell or my own damn self has always been so amazing to me. I guess i have just romanticized the idea of historical badass warriors such as the Spartans, Vikings, Saxons, Celts, Gauls, Legionaries (love history so sorry if i rant lol),  that sort of thing. I wanna start using more of these primal ways of conditioning in my life, especially my mind. These were warriors to the heart and core, they lived and died by the sword, lived and died by their own body's potential. Society has watered down the human experience to the bare minimum in my opinion, and that thrill of living through training and living life in the edge is being substituted by false experiences. We are animals, we are primal. we are human. We belong to the natural world, lets start living and training that way
