Pharmacy: “That request you put in over a week ago was just to request more refills, not actually fill your prescription”

…Why would I request more refills if I didn’t want to obtain more meds i.e. fill my prescription again?

Yup love it when I have to deal with psych med withdrawal symptoms for an entire weekend bc my pharmacy’s refill policies are a clusterfuck.

When a public figure does something asshole-ish, “They were already clearly an asshole before this. Where have you been?” is not a particularly useful response. Like, people can be mad about someone who has done asshole-ish things in the past continuing to be an asshole.

So treating my panic disorder with weed is a nope. Got some edibles while we were in Colorado, and my stupid-ass brain misinterpreted the normal effects of THC as “holyshitimdying!!!”, triggering a panic attack. :/

Personal crap under the cut

Almost 10 years ago now I tried going on psych meds for anxiety. Dr prescribed me approx a month’s worth of pills, then then the semester ended and I moved back home, and I couldn’t find a dr in my hometown who would approve refills for me. Now I’m going through the same thing again. I got about a month’s worth of pills, but then my insurance changed. Now I’m out of pills and for some reason my old dr won’t approve refills, and it’s going to be at least a week until I can set up my prescription w my new insurance and get an appt w my new dr. I’m just really fucking lucky I’m not going to die without these. Like, I can’t go to work or grocery shopping or anything without them unless I want to have a panic attack that’ll take the rest of the day to come down from - but I won’t die at least.

So, someone just dropped this in my inbox, and no, I haven’t written about it but I knew about it. This is the sort of thing that happens, unfortunately. I do have a post about the Black Madonna of Chartres, Our Lady of the Pillar.

They did this in 2009.*

They “restored” the entire cathedral based on how they have assumed its builders in the Middle Ages (the 1200s) intended it to be. Including, but not limited to, painting a Black Madonna white.

No matter what you think about the Black Madonnas of Europe, or the arguments about their meaning and intent or anything like that, painting her this way is both an academic and a religious sacrilege. There is…a lot to say about the whole debacle, but I’ve already been rubbing my forehead enough over this. I’ll just say that this “restoration” says a lot more about society today than any medieval society.

* The change to the Madonna itself was apparently slightly more recent. The “restoration” to the entire Cathedral began around 2009 and is supposed to be completed in, I believe, 2017.

The restoration is now complete and open to the public.

The Black Madonna is now white.

We do not know the names of those who planned and built the cathedral at Chartres, “this one anonymous glory of all things, this rich stone forest,” as Orson Welles called it in his film “F for Fake.”

Now, too, the Black Madonna is a memory: The gift shop sells a postcard only of her blanched visage, rosy-cheeked as if blushing. To illustrate the complexity of the controversy, it should be noted that the statue was commissioned as a copy of a much-admired earlier Madonna. Her name? Notre-Dame la Blanche — Our Lady the White One.

Feeling really down and self-hate-y for seemingly no reason today. I really hope this is just one of my usual sad days and not my new anxiety meds kicking in.

Somebody I normally agree with on things is hardcore going to bat for “sapiosexual” being a very real thing that everybody needs to take seriously, and I’m just like okay so long as they don’t try to argue that it’s a marginalized group…
