Naki’s Album Review of The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Pt 2. (1/2)

NEVERMIND

Suga really hit home hard with this one. His flow and the anger and determination in his voice are so raw it resonated through my bones. For the intro of The Most Beautiful Moment Pt 2. this is a hit. It perfectly fits the theme of doing what you want trying to find who you are, but everyone including family around you may not always approve of what you choose to pursue. I 100% relate to these lyrics because as a recent graduate, I am currently going through the same exact thing. Especially since I only have an idea of what I want to do and not a set goal. I rate this a 8.5/10 as it really touched me and for such a short piece it really nailed a complicated emotion felt by people trying to reach their dreams. 

RUN

First off the song is bomb. From the raps to the brilliant high falsettos of the vocal line it is love. I just can’t stop listening to it and can’t wait to see the live at the MAMAs for it. With all the theories that are surrounding this MV, I think after watching it a few more times over and looking at some other people’s ideas, I agree the most with the theory that all the boys are alive, except Jin. Jin was always shown kind of tailing behind, filming, watching the others like a spirit and here you can see the boys struggling to keep fighting instead of actually dying. J-hope goes to the hospital, the boys save V and Jimin, and Kookie and Suga are helping each other out. Even Rapmon is just going with the flow and accepting things. And at the end Kookie winks at Jin and then you see his eyes close and V rising from the water which can also mean a rebirth of sorts or being cleansed and starting a new beginning, one without Jin in their lives. I either believe this or that Run and I need you are two different paths the boys could have taken. In I Need You they all end up dead, falling into their depression of Jin’s death in the effect of the butterfly effect. But in RUN they all choose to live and never stop fighting to live. Either way love this song and would rate it a 9.5/10 for me. I’ll be playing this forever. 

Butterfly

Butterfly is just one of those songs that makes you feel like your entire heart is breaking and you just need a good cry afterwards. This song is straight up magical and great to listen to on a rainy day while looking out a window and taking in the world. It’s been one of my favorites from the moment ARMY had pieced together the pieces from the prologue to make the majority of the song. Vocal line really outdid themselves on this one and the sweet baby soft lullaby tones of their voices make this song especially haunting. Even rap line’s verses that could be related to the tones a lot of spoken word are in are brilliant. This song will forever be with me in moments when i need it most. It gets a 10/10 from me. 

Whalien 52

This song. Hit me so hard when i read the lyrics, I ended up crying. Since I’ve always been a bit different from what is considered normal in my society I would usually be outcasted, judged, and left feeling rather lonely. I never knew how much I could relate the 52 Hertz whale ._.’  J-hope’s rap was especially one I will remember. I also totally understand how BTS as celebrities would totally feel lonely. Like yeah they have us, ARMY, but fans only go so far. People that might know them at school and such probably started to pay more attention to them and treat them differently after they debuted. Being fake friends because they want to brag that they are friends with a popular celebrity. Forever idolized, but no one wants to be the friend when they really need a shoulder to cry on or talk to about their problems. I really love this song and it is probably in my top 3 for this album. I rate it a 9/10.

Naki’s Album Review of The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Pt 2. (2/2)

Ma City

This song is just so fun and refreshing. I feel like ‘reppin my own city whenever this plays! It was really cute to hear the boys go hard for their hometowns, especially rap line. Rap Monster ‘reppin for Ilsan, J-hope ‘reppin for Jeolla Gwangju, and Suga being the perfect Daegu boy was just awesome on this track. I’ll definitely be listening to this whenever I’m walking around ma city. 8/10

뱁새- Try Hard

Baepsae is the song that is close to being on par if not ON par with Cypher 3: Killer. The song just goes so hard and gets me so hyped I just can’t help but dance. Vocal line has my heart skipping beats and Suga, Jhope, and Rapmon have me feeling like I should be twerking to this song. xD But putting that aside, the track actually hits upon their struggles of gaining appreciation for doing music and how hard they are trying to carve their spot out in the industry. People told them couldn’t do it, they were cursed at, and yet here they are still slaying. Very inspirational and hype and I love it. 10/10 from me because I’m pretty sure this is my favorite song on the album.  

고엽- Dead Leaves

I. Love. This. Song. It’s a straight up babymaker although it’s a breakup song xD. Jimin, V, Jungkook and Jin really just slayed and shined brilliantly on this track. Jimin and Kookie’s high notes give me so much life and then V’s deep husky voice makes me want to melt! or scream. Either way it’s amazing. I love J-hope’s trap stylesque rapping so much. It’s so good! I honestly have no complaint with this track or any on this album so far. Everything has been gold. Only thing left is the outro and I’m 100% sure that it will just be equally amazing. 9/10

Outro- House of Cards

Being the last track on the album I could only wish it was just a little longer. Why? Because it’s freaking amazing! Jesus, my soul left my body with this entire album and came back making me feel like a reborn person. This track is stunning. Beautiful. A beautiful way to close out The Most Beautiful Moment in Life pt 2. This track went all to the vocal line and they slayed it. It was like a soft dark lullaby that reminded me of songs groups like N’sync might have done in the late 90′s and early 2000′s (loved N’Sync so that’s a compliment) or even Keyshia Cole style track. from the same era.  Thus, I give this a 10/10 as it was a stellar closing to this album.

Man! If this is what stage BTS is at after only about 2ish yrs since debut I can not imagine what amazing stuff they will put out in the future. This album was beautifully made, produced, thought out, and ran with the theme consistently. Overall The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Pt. 2 gets a straight 10/10 for me as this album was deep and touched upon a lot of the struggles the boys have endured and topics that the youth of today’s day and age can relate and reflect upon. Keep runnin’ BTS, your future is nothing but bright.

SEVENTEEN COMEBACK!!

In the past few months that I have been away due to finishing up my senior year at university, a rookie group that I have been keeping my eye on and a huge fan of, named Seventeen debuted with the song Adore U (아낀다). Now they are making their first comeback with the song Boys Be. 

So far Pledis has updated with three photo teasers of the boys, two with a pastel aesthetic that give it a fantasy/ SHINee’s View type feel and one black and white photo that seems to have been taken on a stage. 

With September 10th only being a week away and Seventeen being one of the top rookies that have debuted this year, this comeback is creating a huge buzz and being highly anticipated. 

So, look out for the 13 adoring boys of Seventeen as they have their first comeback with Boys Be on September 10th!

Day 6- Congratulations ~Teaser~

DAY6 is the long awaited “other” boy group from JYP that was shown on the well known YG survival show, WIN. WIN had displayed members from two groups in the talent battle against Winner and iKON whom were GOT7 and Day6 respectively. 

Now we finally will get to see what Day6 will bring to the great K-pop table with their friendly rival YG group iKon also making their debut soon. The teaser shows JYP actor, Choi Woo Sik, riding the subway remembering good memories of a relationship that they had while looking heartbroken. The song has a very warm acoustic paired with an epic electric guitar that gives the song a warm rock ballad type feel to it. 

Personally, I’m excited about this debut as I tend to like most of JYP’s groups and love bands. Following Wonder Girl’s epic 80′s styled comeback as a band I think this is a good time for them to debut and will correspond well with the upcoming Fall season as it is a great transition from the upbeat summer songs. 

Day6 consists of the members SungJin, Jae, Young K (Brian Kang), JunHyeok, Won Pil, and DoWoon.

SHERBERTS- LADY NEDY

As a fan of Jrock and Scott Pilgrim vs The World type indie music this was a nice little gem I discovered this morning. This band’s sound reminds me of the old rock and roll that one can hear in Almost Famous (a great movie by the way watch it) and even reminds me a little of Nirvana’s Smells like Teen Spirit. The MV is simple, but that is fine as it in my opinion enhances the song and lets you focus more on it. Check out Sherbets- Lady Nedy today!

Hey Everyone guess what~~~ 

Naki is going to BTS the Red Bullet Tour in NYC WITH a VIP+ ticket!!! ^^ 

Tickets for the event sold out in about an hour due to some technical difficulties with AXS and their waiting room. The wait was excruciating and I eventhough I had joined the waiting room at 9:30 on the dot, I still was not let in to nab VIP+ tickets right at 10:00 while my friend next to me got them. In fact it took 16 minutes of me running between computers and wondering if VIP+ had sold out and if I was completely out of luck. Thankfully on one last try I got my ticket at 10:16 A.M on the dot. 

I know many people did not get tickets or the ones they wanted due to the venue being one of the smaller ones and the company SubKulture underestimating BTS’s fanbase here and not trying for a slightly bigger venue like Hammerstein. My heart goes out to you all and I say keep trying as someone might be selling a ticket later. Many people do have to cancel due to life circumstances so I’m saying keep on your hunt! 

In the end I am thoroughly excited and can not wait to see and meet the boys that I have followed since their predebut days rock the stage in NYC! If you are going also and would like to meet up with me drop me a message and I’ll definitely try! ^^

BLOCK BASTARZ- CONDUCT ZERO/  품행제로

This. This was a flawless debut release by Block B’s first subunit Bastarz. As if their name wasn’t already amazing, the song is incredible. As a fan of Block B, I was really excited for this release and I can honestly say I was NOT disappointed. 

From the pulsing beat to P.O’s epic deep voice rap and Bibum and Ukwon’s soft yet beautiful voices this was a fantastic mixture. The bridge leading up to the Chorus which is shouted out by P.O (Pumhaeng Zero!) and followed up by Ukwon is just beautiful. B-Bomb’s voice is perfect for the lead up to it. The beat is insanely sick with all it’s shifts, but epic beat drops. I don’t even know if I can honestly describe how Awesome this song is. 

As for the MV. I again loved it. I thought the girls were fabulous in their outfits (rock it ladies), the boys were handsome and ready to slay and it was colorful yet dark at the same time. It was mildly creepy, but interesting and cool all at the same time. Also, the dance was awesome! I already have learned the chorus part of the dance because it is just so much fun to dance along to. I honestly can not wait to see this performed live. 

Also, in addition to watching the MV on repeat, I have also listened to the album. It is fantastic as well and I am so proud of them. My favorite song is Nobody But You as it is a soft and sensual song. I also quite enjoyed the track with Incredible. I am actually probably going to buy this album as a BBC and for the high quality that it hosts. I give this sub-unit debut a 10/10 as this will be my jam for a while.

REVIEW:

Relesae Date: 2015.04.29 Perfume - Pick Me Up 20th major single "Relax in the City / Pick Me Up". - The JPopsuki video portal

Okay so I LOVED this song and MV. For perfume to really tone it down on the voice alterations a bit for this track was really surprising for me as it reminded me a lot of their really old stuff and it’s not their usual style. I suppose since they are getting older now they think it’s better to start re-introducing fans to the ladies’ now matured voices. Love it. 

First of all, the music video gave me chills. It was bright yet dark and the representation of rescuing one’s self from the darkness that sounds her is brilliant. The song’s powerful beat that would go between soft and then strong was just awesome. Nakata-san really did well with it.  And let’s not forget the girls’ vocals. They went perfectly wit the track. I don’t know if more could be said about it. 

As a long time fan of Perfume, I thought this was a pretty good release for them and that they let more of their natural voices be heard was fantastic. This is not their best out of all their songs, but it is definitely one I will be humming and remember a while from now. I give this a 8.5/10 rating.

J.Y. Park- Who’s Your Mama ( 어머님이 누구니 ) 

It’s official guys, JYP (Jinyoung Park) finally has a song about how much he loves butts. After a big giggle fit from watching this hilarious yet awesome and colorful MV I must say I quite like this song as it is just overall funny and funky. The dance is great, the booties are fabulous and JYP’s unique vocals are spot on. 

As the CEO Of J.Y.P Entertainment many probably never thought he would go so far to make such a sexual song about girls’ bodies, but it just works for him as he has that laid back and dorky wannabe cool guy image.  Jessi’s rap is also perfectly done and fits right into the song to tell the girl’s perspective of where she got her hot body. I really do enjoy her style of rapping and I hope to see this performed on stage sometime soon. 

Overall, I’m giving this JYP comeback a 7.5/10 since it isn’t his best song, but a really good feel good song.

THIS IS AN OLD POST THAT IS BEING TRANSFERRED FROM MY OTHER BLOG:   B2ST/BEAST- 12:30

So, B2ST has made a comeback and I’m totally in love with the song. After Good Luck came out I wasn’t exactly instantly in love with the song, but 12:30 was much different and it surprised me. I’m not usually a big fan of ballad-ish type songs, but I do enjoy a good ballad when in the mood. So when I was listening to 12:30 I wasn’t exactly excited at first, but by the end I was madly in love with it and have replayed it so many times since.The MV is just a gorgeous piece of artwork and I give my kudos to the director. Yoseob’s soft yet sweet and powerful voice starts off the track and then it melts beautiful into each member creating a crazy awesome harmony. The dark tones of the MV suited the feel of the song and I really liked the acting. The female lead was very good at showing the emotion with the boys at the heartbreak and the course of events that led a relationship to turn sour. The clock also was a good signal of them wanting to turn back time to go back to when the relationship wasn’t broken. At around 3:28 Yoseob and Gikwang just make my favorite harmony of the entire song. Their voices fit excellently well together here and I loved it. Also, the chorus is really strong and the dance that we got to see the snippet of was excellent. I didn’t even know they could do a dance to this, but they did and I want to learn it because it is just that smooth. Great job B2ST, I can’t wait for the live performances of this!

Girls’ Generation/ SNSD- Catch Me If You Can

It’s been a long time since i’ve last posted on here due to some issues with many of the admins quitting and leaving me alone to update a massive amount of music. Due to this issue I have finally decided I wanted to start blogging again. However, instead of updating on all the latest music coming out I will focus on my favorites or big releases and do reviews for the songs. With that said today’s topic will be Girls’ Generation (SNSD)’s new song: Catch Me If You Can. I am only able to review the Korean version (they had a dual language release) as I have yet to find the Japanese one, but I must say the ladies have finally impressed me a little. 

I am not a very big SNSD fan, but they do have decent songs and I know their fanbase is massive. This being said I must say that I was quite surprised with this sound coming from them. Yeah, they had The Boys and even I Got A Boy, but this was definitely one the most powerful beat driven songs in their arsenal. Now, I must admit when I first heard it I loved the beat and was wishing for a few things to change here and there, but I told myself I would give it a few days (because that sometimes changes my feelings about the song as I listen to it more) and in this case I was quite right. The beat with their vocals is so alluring and fits quite well. I like the little shifts in the beat although a little harsh at times it’s still really awesome. Overall, it is a really good song and I would give it about a 7/10. 

As for the MV, I found it quite amusing how SM tried to fool us that the girls were outside, but as I looked closer I think it’s just a very large indoor set with some construction props and a dance floor. That definitely got a giggle out of me. Okay, back to the girls. The dance is definitely one of the more complex SNSD dances and with Jessica’s recent departure this was in my opinion needed to show that they are still a really strong group and are doing fine despite this. I currently plan to learn this dance as it is just really awesome to watch with all the level shifts and small movements that make it great to watch. It was also really great to see Sunny up front a lot as she is my favorite out of the group and Seohyun was really cute as well. They deserved the camera time. Overall, I would rate this MV release a 7/10 and I hope the girls will continue strong as they mature.
