Deleting—(not anymore)
Time after time again, I always have sudden urges to delete this blog of mine. Not because of the fact that it has become a major waste of time or that it has become an addition, but because of how the Christian community of tumblr has changed drastically.
I started this blog more than a year ago with the intention of blogging my life while reblogging pictures along the way. I posted ramblings and pictures of food and fancy houses, like any teenager would. Before long, I was introduced to the Christians on this website. Soon enough, I slowly began to remove myself from the materialistic mindset that I had from all the posts on my dashboard and replaced them with Bible verses and edifying posts. Ramses, Ayana, and Andrew were among the first I followed. At this time, I was encouraged and motivated to pursue an authentic relationship with the King. The posts on my dashboard convicted me and pushed me even harder to die to my flesh and to glorify the Almighty.
This continued for less than a year. Fast forward to today. My dashboard barely contains these posts that have encouraged me. Rather, it is now filled with attention-seeking, pity posts and fangirl anons that feed the prideful and discourage the weak. The thousands of followers. The countless "I think you're cute" anons. The overwhelming desire for recognition on this website. Those posts screaming "look at me!" "Look what I'm doing!" Unfortunately, this has become the norm in many of the "famous Christian" blogs.
What have we become? Do we no longer care for our brothers and sisters who are weak in the spirit? Do we no longer desire to edify them or help them back up in their desolation? Are we more interested in our fangirls that only feed our ego than our hurting brother or our lost sister? Where is Christ represented in our snark responses? Or our posts screaming for attention?
Where is He?
I urge you, dear sisters and brothers. Look at your posts and evaluate yourselves. Do you see Christ? Or do you see yourself? Will it bring glory to us? Or to the One who gives us breath? All I'm asking is that we ask ourselves the motive for posting a lot of the things we post. Is it of Christ or of the world?
After much prayer and chats with my fellow siblings in Christ, I believe it is best if I get away from this hindering website as I pursue Christ without the distraction of fangirls or self-centered posts. In no way am I raising myself upon a pedestal above all the rest, as I am one to fall under these descriptions. But it's been a great run. Thanks for all the memories.
This post will be queued. And this blog will be set for deletion before the new year.
All my love in Christ, Christian
