Day 3 | Potion #melotober2023 Featuring Kirrahe Khorr & Virmire Delisle
Back from a long break after being super demotivated and then really sick, but now I'm mostly okay I guess :> The simplicity and lack of deeper meaning in the Melotober prompts are actually quite comforting to me, like it's okay if it's not pretty or doesn't further a story or goal. It's just cozy feel-good art :3 I did go a bit overboard on the lighting in this one though, woops

Not feeling like lining my sketches lately, please excuse the weird line texture ^^' I don't feel like there's need to say much about this, except maybe that Kirra is waayyy easier to draw like this instead of as her Boucle Unicorn version (those wings were always killing me ><).
Day 1 | Lantern #melotober2023 Featuring Virmire Delisle
I was originally going to participate in this year's Boucle Drawlloween, but I got really stressed today about it, so I decided to go easy on myself by choosing another challenge, one I won't feel bad for not completing. I found the #melotober by @/melosprout over on Instagram, and the cozy vibes immediately calmed me down, making me feel like I could actually tackle it without pressure.
It's also a good excuse to finally experiment with my characters outside of the Boucle group, imagine what they would be like in their own lil world of my invention!

MUD MONSTER IN THE MAKING

I'M ALIVE \o/
Been absent for the last few weeks due to real life being absolute chaos but I finally found some time to draw ! I certainly won't be drawing at the same rate as I used to from now on, but I'm still excited about that new baroque stables of mine so I'll make time for it when I can :3
Fire & Aurora, my cherished babins <3
Even though Roseraie is focused on baroque breeds, I couldn't not include Fire in it cause she's my best babe and I love her way too much <3 Still gonna be the same hyperactive mess she's always been, still Raph's partner in crime, though I did change the placement of her scar cause it's more convenient to me. Also bringing along my new wonderful Warlander mare Aurora to be just as much of a ‘main character’ as Fire, cause I also love her incredibly much even though I haven’t had her for that long, and she fits so well as Maya’s partner it’s unreal ! Her personality also contrats Fire’s quite well so they make a great pair together :3
Mud Monster (About The Art)
I have no real reason behind that drawing, just saw a prompt about rain and thought about how I was tired of drawing my pons in typical good weather with the sun shining and whatnot. It’s a nice change of pace :> I’m also really proud to have managed to make this with absolutely ZERO ref pictures !!! (as a comparison, this was my first no-ref piece drawn almost exactly one year ago) Context here would be that the herd spent the night in the barn due to a thunderstorm, and they are let outside in the morning once it has passed. Aurora is carefully making her way through the pasture to find a dry spot to graze, when suddenly Fire comes out of nowhere jumping in a puddle in front of her and splashing muddy water all over her bright grey coat >< It probably won’t take long until Fire becomes completely unrecognizable with the amount of mud she’ll gather on her coat ^^’

A New Era Has Begun…
I’ve been in need of a fresh start in my HARPG ventures for a while now, and I finally decided to take that step even though I haven’t finished my storyline from Curses In Disguise.
It took me over a month to figure out exactly what I wanted to do for this new stables, and it all came down to three main arguments :
I love the western HARPG community, especially that of the @WHA-HARPG group, and find the culture and disciplines of western riding much more interesting than classic english riding.
I adore working horses in general, especially baroque-type breeds that can work cattle. Ever since I learned about the history, cultures and traditions surrounding these horses, I find warmblood/sport horse breeds to be rather bland...
I’m tired of player-made breeds, even though they have the potential to make great communities, I find them too constraining and stressful… So real-life breeds for the win !
With all of that in mind, I finally decided that my new stables would be a lil ranch in France (obviously) that breeds cattle-work oriented Lusitanos \o/ It’s gonna be called Haras de la Roseraie !
And this is my herd ! With the stallion Sovereign at its head, his four mares (Banshee, Olympe, Hermosa and Emerald) and their babins (Vecna, Zeus, Princesa and Onyx) :3
Wait, you said Emerald ?
For those who follow me on DA for a while and maybe know a bit about my characters, you may recognise Emerald in this and think ‘new stables but old characters ?’ or ‘she’s not a Lusitano !’
And in both cases you’d be right, but let me explain…
New stables, Old characters
I’m ‘recycling’ characters cause I’m attached to them, love their dynamics, and I don’t see why I would create new ones to either not get as attached or to just re-do the same thing. So Emerald alongside Fire and Aurora, and their riders Maya and Raph, will be joining this new stable.
Emerald is not a Lusitano
Indeed she’s not. But she’s not a Kossak Warmblood either, not anymore.
Like I said before, I’m tired of player-made breeds and the Kossak-Warmblood group has been inactive for a little while now. I don’t want my beloved character to be stuck in a group/breed that may not even exist anymore in a few years from now, so I decided to free her and myself from those constraints by changing her breed.
I didn’t make her a Lusitano though, I made her an Andalusian ! With Aurora being a Warlander and Fire being a *whatever-she-is*, Emerald joins the group of ‘special non-Lusitano’ beans at Roseraie :3
