What woke ideologies should I teach the children in my family this Christmas? Last year we covered "never trust a politician"

Falls asleep for three hours midday
I need my dentist to stop cold calling me
I am ashamed by the amount of people who don't remember how to properly use BEDMAS (PEMDAS for americans).
It's Brackets (Parentheses) then Exponents then EITHER multiplication OR division depending which comes first in the equation the it's EITHER addition OR subtraction depending which comes first in the equation.
IT'S BASIC MATH JSDHSKF
So if you’re talking about those viral posts of 12 / 2(3) and things like that, there is a *little* nuance to that
Professional-grade standards for the order of operations have different precedences for implicit multiplication (i.e. 2x) and explicit multiplication (i.e. 2 * x) and some of them would dictate that in that sort of expression, you do the implied multiplication of 2(3) = 6 before you do the division of 12 / 6 = 2, so you do get a different order than you would with PEMDAS, where it’s 12/2 = 6, 6 * 3 = 18.
That said, 2 isn’t really “the correct answer” either just because it uses a more formal or more complex set of precedence rules, people get that wrong too. The thing is, those sets of precedence rules are so rarely known that applying them in any context where you don’t know the other person is trying to use them can be risky, and lead to miscommunication.
At the end of the day, we have to accept that math notation isn’t magic words that inherently have meaning or truth, they’re just a mode of communication. The purpose of those viral posts is to make an expression which is easily misconstrued or may get different answers in different accepted conventions, for the purposes of driving engagement. The best answer to all of them is “this notation is unclear and slightly ambiguous, you should have used parentheses or a fraction bar to make it less confusing.”
I was talking about one very specific tiktok I saw that reminded me of a wider problem. The equation in the tiktok was from a math teacher and was written very clearly in a way when BEDMAS was used correctly there was only one possible answer but I appreciate your dive into nuance. I too hate those clickbait ambiguous equations.
Petition to replace every straight male podcast with random middle aged women. I want to listen to women between the ages of 40 and 60 yap about whatever they want. Tell me how the vagina monologues changed your life. Talk about your feelings around menopause. Spill your family's tea. I don't want well researched ground breaking takes I want the unfiltered thoughts of middle aged women. Give me moms, lesbians, career women, sex workers, teachers, every variety of middle age woman.

I tried to make pancakes but an ad cut off the sugar in the recipe. I made baking soda flavoured pancakes. This is the worst day of my life.
Trying to convince my cat to get off the dress pants I laid out for a job interview tomorrow.
“The Duck quaketh… The Wolf howleth” — from what many consider to be the first picture book for children, Orbis Sensualium Pictus (1658). More in our essay here: https://publicdomainreview.org/essay/in-the-image-of-god-john-comenius-and-the-first-children-s-picture-book

I usually prefer the stage versions of musicals when the musical movies make changes to songs or cut songs but my biggest exception of all time is Everybody's Talking About Jamie replacing The Legend of Loco Chanel with This Was Me. I tear up every time I watch it. Don't get me wrong, I love the camp of Loco Chanel but This Was Me just brings a whole other layer to an already powerful story.
Incredibly specific ad I got on instagram
having anti punitive justice morals sucks because you want to say "man that guy sucks he should get hit with hammers until he dies" but you also want to make it clear you don't think anyone should be put in charge of the 'hit people with hammers until they die" machine.
