HWANG IN-HO HEADCANONS

- poor communicator; after his wife&child’s death he was partially mute for years before he articulated words again, even then they were chunky and off kilter.

- generally caring, games excluded, he loves hard and obsessively in the same way he finds interesting or hate in other people.

- morally extremely grey; oh il-nam is a massive factor on his psyche when it comes to both how in-ho acts during the games as the frontman and as himself as hwang in-ho.

- (deleted scene mention) the only reason in-ho bought goldfish after the games was because he thought it would bring back some sort of faith, like a switch he would believe in people again and the offer to be the frontman of the games would be gone. ultimately he’s not an animal person and they died.

- reliant on alcohol, choice of drink is pricey whiskies and scotches that his father used to drink growing up.

- his old family house is still decorated with photos of his wife, he never got the nerve to take any of them down nor grieve. he bought an apartment later after she died, the one seen in the show but he owns both the house and flat just to remind him.

- bisexual, HEAVY female lean; fight with the wall.

- while i’m not an inhun fan i do think there was an interesting tension between them when in-ho was putting up a front as someone else; whether it be because he felt more comfortable being himself under another name or another reason etc etc. i find that most interactions with gi-hun, in-ho’s fascination with him does border on a strange sort of love and i think that is how dedicated he can be.

- the nursery for his child is still up in his old house—in-ho is trapped in nostalgia, which is why he plays and offers up children’s games as well never breaking that clear dome of nostalgia around oh il-nam’s games system.

- in-ho and jun-ho were practically glued to each other growing up, yet always competing, if in-ho got hurt, jun-ho cried, if jun-ho got gun stuck in his hair, in-ho did too but worse, if in-ho fell out of a tree and fractured his wrist, jun-ho broke his arm riding his bike. they never did mesh.

definitely the second one; nam-gyu’s the type to love to kick gi-hun while he’s down but also as they progress nam-gyu retreats and ends up almost more caring than gi-hun

despite their cat-like demeanors, they both have the barks and bites of fighting dogs :p

basically; Namgyu used to see drugs to Gi-hun posts S1 then fell into the games and ghosted him until he showed up before the second round of games started—This is where things get messy you can either create your own plot or ask me or fe-fe: Nam-gyu and Gi-hun reconcile under very rocky terms OR they can fall apart, everything’s up to interpretation

they’ve genuinely never met in canon, this is all built off of storyboarding, rps, fics in progress, etc.

so, let’s recognize that this is the same hwang in-ho that didn’t care if gi-hun died the first round of games, the same in-ho that shot his brother with no problem, the same in-ho that did nothing when the VIPs deemed a newborn baby a player, the same in-ho did nothing when his guards were mutilating and selling organs of deceased players to the Korean black market, the same in-ho who is a voyeur to these horrific events and even encourages them, and the SAME in-ho that watched gi-hun threaten and then moments after kill himself.

no, hwang in-ho did not want to save seong gi-hun, no one ever wanted to save gi-hun and that is what’s tragic.

he could have saved him had he felt inclined to, he would, and he didn’t.

in-ho being reduced down to whatever act he was putting up as oh young-il makes me want to drag my balls through glass; he is complex is so many different ways to the point that he participated in the games with a full backstory with a wife, child, brother, father, step-mother, etc. and he thinks in such extreme black in white and it makes his morals (albeit not traditionally correct nor legal) so strict, and despite his actions his opinions are regurgitated by a man he most likely met when he was the most traumatized he was in his life, he’s interesting outside of being a falsified character of himself centered around gi-hun.

im high lowkey if this doesnt make sense.
