One thing I’ve really wanted to talk about for a long time is the portrayal of children in fanfics
I mean, of course, write whatever you want. That’s not the point! My point is that most works don’t portray babies and children as they really are, and I think there’s a lot of narrative potential there
That baby in the series isn’t realistic for countless reasons—too many to list here. But honestly, there’s a lot we can work on. For example, babies drink milk and vomit if you don’t burp them; their nails grow way too fast, and you have to keep them short or they’ll scratch themselves; they cry over silly things, like a tag on their clothes bothering them or because they’ve grabbed and pulled THEIR OWN HAIR; they wake up in the middle of the night for no reason; sometimes their poop looks different and you worry they might be sick; you try to give them medicine and they spit it all out; during teething, they bite you to soothe their gums; they’ll eventually learn they have a voice, and you’ll hear them screaming or making noises because of that. Among countless other things
To me, it’s amazing to imagine so many scenarios that could be added. It’s not that I want fanfics focused solely on the baby (even though she’s adorable!) but rather fanfics where she makes an appearance. Imagine them fighting, and the baby starts crying and won’t stop for hours, only for you to find out she’s teething? Or Gi-hun trying to escape, and the baby laughing her head off, thinking it’s a game?
unsure if you’ve seen the handmaiden but there’s a scene in it where the two main characters are helping each other get undressed ( https://youtu.be/-k1j4jajotw ) and i think it’s perfect for the MILF au … inho sauntering over to gihun’s apartment when she knows gayeong is at school to get Gihun to show her how to properly take off the lingerie she gave her because it “looks so delicate and expensive” , which just leads to them fucking nasty in the bedroom
I have not seen it but I watched the scene and I am being so normal about it, I swear. 👀
I don't know why, but my mind took this in a direction of Gi-hun getting jealous and possessive, which isn't typical of her, but she's trying to make conversation at first while she's loosening the corset's laces. Somehow gets it into her head that In-ho was wearing the lingerie she bought her for someone else, and oooohhhhh it shouldn't get under Gi-hun's skin the way it does, they haven't had the infamous "what are we?" talk yet, but it does. She gets rougher, all but manhandling In-ho into position how she wants her, but In-ho's squirming enough that Gi-hun acts without thinking and smacks her on the ass. In-ho yelps, then moans out, "Miss Seong," and they both freeze up at that.
Yeah, there's no way this scenario doesn't end with them fucking nasty in the bedroom about it. 🤭
No, but a few days ago I was looking at stuff on Pinterest, and my 7-year-old sister, who knows I like *Squid Game*, said, “Oh, is that Gi-hun and that thing?”
Ok so... you know what's coming. I'm gonna need an In-ho pov of the reverse vegas au too please 🤣 (no hurry, I'm happy to wait for whenever!)
Took a break from IAD WIP to write this because I needed the laugh. This is set after Vegas Gi-hun knows the truth. Gi-hun, stay strong! Don't let the power of horny sway you. 😭
"You need to stop staring at me like that."
In-ho blinked at him in confusion.
"Like what?"
"Like—" Gi-hun waved his hands at him wildly. "—that! You're sitting here, watching me stuff my face full of food, looking at me like I have all of the answers to life."
In-ho set his jaw. "I am not."
"You definitely are," Gi-hun scoffed, his cheeks resembling a chipmunk's more and more by the minute. "I thought we already made it clear that you can't lie to me, Hwang In-ho, but I guess you just can't help yourself in this universe, now can you?"
"As if your In-ho hasn't told worse lies to you before," he huffed.
He should've seen it coming, yet the kick to his shin still blindsided him. Pain shot throughout his leg, and he jolted on impact, swearing when he banged his knee against the underside of the table as well.
Of course, their waitress returned at that exact moment, her eyes wide.
"Are you okay, sir?!"
"Oh, he's fine. Don't mind him!" Gi-hun chimed in with a sunny smile after swallowing past his food. "He's always so clumsy. You should see him at home." Patting him on the hand, Gi-hun raised a brow at him. "Isn't that right, jagiya?"
"Uh-huh." In-ho gritted his teeth, massaging his knee with his free hand. "Clumsy me."
The waitress glanced between them, then gave a nervous chuckle.
"Well, if you don't need anything else…" She trailed off, uncertain.
"We'll actually take the check now," Gi-hun said, staring pointedly at In-ho.
Sighing, he nodded in agreement, and the waitress didn't waste any time escaping.
As soon as she was out of earshot, Gi-hun laid into him.
"Lying to me about being in the killer kids games at all is not quite the same as assuming a fake identity in order to get close to me, lying about leading the killer kids games on top of everything else, and then killing my best friend!" Gi-hun whisper-shrieked. "Don't you think?!"
And because In-ho was apparently a glutton for punishment, he pouted at Gi-hun.
"I thought you said I was your best friend." That earned him a pinch on the hand. "Ow!"
"I could just strangle you!"
"By all means," In-ho challenged, "do it then."
"No, I take it back. You sound way too excited." Shaking his head, Gi-hun rolled his eyes with an almost fond quirk to his lips. "I should have known."
Wait. What?
"What's that supposed to mean?" he sputtered.
"Heh, don't act coy." Gi-hun snorted. "If you're anything like the In-ho I know, then you've been known to get more than a little excited when I hurt you."
In spite of himself, heat rushed to In-ho's face, but of course there was no hiding it from the man across from him.
Taking a sip of his drink, he hummed in delight. "Actually, now that I think about it, I hope that my In-ho manages to somehow win your Gi-hun over while we sort all this out. I know from experience that he would show him a good time."
It was almost unnerving how quickly Gi-hun picked apart his reactions at times. A single glance at his face was seemingly all he needed in order to know what he was thinking. No matter how hard In-ho tried to conceal his emotions behind a neutral expression, Gi-hun dug them out to the surface with a brutal efficiency.
"Jealous?" he taunted, resting his chin in his hands. "And of yourself, no less? How adorable."
In-ho smirked. "'How pathetic,' you mean."
Gi-hun shrugged.
"Your words, not mine. Point being is that you don't have to worry. He'll take very good care of him, I'm sure."
He wanted to dangle that possibility over In-ho? Fine.
Two can play at that game.
With Gi-hun's long legs stretched out underneath the table, In-ho didn't have to move far.
Gi-hun's eyes widened when he felt In-ho press his ankle against his, slowly teasing his foot up and down along his calf while he spoke.
"And who will take care of you in the meantime?"
In-ho leaned in, his head cocked to the side. Because to this Gi-hun, In-ho's reality was but a far, distant dream. He was untouched by the games and will continue to be. So much of his struggles were all but wiped away by In-ho's support and his winnings, and that colored his perspective. It made him more impulsive, more like the Gi-hun In-ho had only read about in his file, the one before the games, only… happier.
In part because of him.
In-ho could use that to his advantage.
If ever they became certain his Gi-hun wasn't coming back, then he could forge a future with this one instead.
All that mattered to In-ho at that point was that he was alive and well.
Now, he just had to play his cards right.
Ducking his head, he decided to bring a little bit of Young-il to the surface, turn up the charm, if only for a moment. To gauge Gi-hun's reaction.
He was good at detecting more blatant lies from In-ho, but sprinkle in a dash of the truth, and where did that leave him?
"I know that I can't possibly make up for all of the ways I've wronged you here," he stated, looking up at him from underneath his eyelashes, "but I am trying to atone for my actions in the only way I know how. Until we figure things out, I am yours in whatever way you need me, Gi-hun, and I assure you." Parting his lips, he lowered his voice into a husky whisper. "I am just as capable of taking care of you and your needs as your In-ho is."
Taken aback, Gi-hun gaped at him, his gaze flitting down towards In-ho's lips for a split second before snapping back up to meet his eyes, caught in the act.
Gotcha.
Snapping himself out of his daze, Gi-hun jumped up to his feet.
"Nope!" He barely managed to catch his chair before it toppled onto the floor, righting it as he rambled on. "Nope, nope, nope. That is trouble. You—" Eyes narrowed, Gi-hun pointed at him, ignoring any attention he was drawing to himself. "You are trouble, and you definitely haven't earned that privilege. At all!"
In-ho fought back a smirk. "'Privilege'?"
"Damn right. I know my worth. I know what I said," he huffed. In record time, Gi-hun patted himself down, found his pack of cigarettes, then held his hand out to In-ho expectedly. "Give me your lighter."
"Anything for you."
"Stop that," he scolded. "You're being weird."
"I'm being nice," In-ho corrected, pulling out his lighter as he was told. Of course, as he handed it over, he couldn't resist teasing him some more, grazing his fingers along the inside of Gi-hun's wrist. "And the offer is always open."
"Yet my legs remain closed," Gi-hun said, cold as ice. "Settle the bill. I'll see you outside."
"Yes, sir," In-ho answered, admiring the curve of his ass as he stormed off towards the exit.
Whatever the future had in store for them, In-ho was ready for whatever Gi-hun threw his way.
I’ve been wanting to explore more pet-human AU scenarios, and this is what I came up with
Imagine if, after Il-nam dies, In-ho goes to take care of the paperwork and ends up visiting one of his long-forgotten homes. It’s a nice, secluded house out in the countryside. In-ho inherited everything and was planning to sell it; he just went to check on its condition.
When he went inside, it was clearly abandoned, but some noises caught his attention. They were coming from the basement. With his gun in hand, he went downstairs, wary.
Down there, there was a human. Or almost. It was clearly a pet—and a very skittish one at that—which growled and hid among old boxes. The smell of mold and rot was suffocating. There was a worn-out mattress, a faucet with a bucket, a toilet, and old food cans and packaging. Abandoned and forgotten.
Or, Il-nam took a liking to Gi-hun and bought him. But Gi-hun was very skittish and elusive; training him would be quite a challenge, but with his new medical diagnoses, he could visit less and less often, so the solution he came up with was to lock Gi-hun in the basement with everything he might need.
Gi-hun has been locked up for a year and a half. Underweight, growling, and probably sick. An abandoned pet.
When In-ho returns from the games, he manages to save Yuna, his wife, but not the baby. She had a miscarriage, and after the transplant and treatment, she was discharged from the hospital. The couple was devastated, deeply shaken by everything that had happened. Their dream of having a family seemed uncertain and distant; Yuna didn’t want to try for another baby—she didn’t feel well—and In-ho agreed with his wife, but he missed the fantasy of fatherhood he had once envisioned.
That is, until they met Gi-hun.
Yuna used her free time to do some volunteer work, and that’s where she met Gi-hun. A man in his late 40s, with a gentle smile and kind eyes, but with disheveled hair and worn-out clothes.
Gi-hun was a “little,” but he lived in a reality where that didn’t change anything—even for skeptics. He needed to work, support himself, and start a family, but he couldn’t deny his nature, and he never really managed to achieve enough stability or even take care of himself. Which is what brings him there, accepting potato bread and asking if they had any chocolate milk, because he’s lactose intolerant
Yuan calls In-ho. She’s found a son for them.
Inho and Yuna are absolutely devastated when they lose their baby. The doctors tell them that because of everything, it wouldn’t be a good idea for them to try again. They agree with the doctor but both of them still dream of having a child to take care of.
Yuna volunteers for an organization that helps littles that are having a hard time. Even though littles are known and loved, sometimes they just can’t find caregivers that would take care of them and sometimes, they have to fend for themselves as if they weren’t littles.
While volunteering, she meets a beautiful little whose name is Gihun, who asks if they have chocolate milk because he can’t drink regular milk and maybe if they have chocolate bread?
And he is so cute and has big brown eyes and Yuna just wants to eat him up!she learns that Gihun never had a caretaker and actually had a job and got married and even had a daughter! His mother couldn’t afford him to be a little so she made Gihun live normally, even if that caused him pain and made his life very unstable.
Yuna coos at him and hugs and lets him cuddle her and even gives him a pacifier which he absolutely loves and Yuna also gave him a little horse plushie that he names horsie!
While he’s still there, Yuna calls Inho and told him that she found their son and he HAS to come now to meet him!
Inho runs over and he absolutely falls in love with Gihun! He’s horrified to learn Gihun had to get a job and was even married and with a kid!
But that’s ok! Yuna and him will take care of him and hey! They can get Gayeong with them too! After all, turns out, that she’s a little a little like her father!
