When I say “writers don’t want your unsolicited criticism” and “leaving unsolicited criticism on fanfiction hurts writers” THIS is what I mean.

This isn’t even all of them, this is just from a FEW posts on the subject. Read through these, and then look me in the eyes and say you’re ~helping writers~ by leaving that criticizing comment on someone’s fic when they didn’t ask you to.

You’re hurting or, at best, annoying us. You’re hurting fandom.

I think I'm going to need a new graphics tablet. This really sucks, I want to draw so, so badly but mine is just... messed up and I can't find how to fix it. I know it's possible because someone helped me before but I can't for the life of me find the steps and just... Ugh. Despair. RIP digital drawing.

I... don’t have anything new to share. I doubt that I will for a while. It feels like I’ve forgotten how to write, and there’s been so much pressure on me too, so much to deal with, and I’ve been facing it pretty much alone. Even now I’m not coping. I miss having friends to talk to, a group to share things with. I don’t know what’s going to be left of me at the end of this (if anything is left at all).

Right now I’m researching for a fic I’ll probably never write (or finish if I ever share the start of it, although the ending is has already been decided), and that seems to be all I can manage at the moment. It’s for a ship I’ve not written before and that has such a high calibre of fancontent I’m honestly completely intimidated. My interest/motivation is a fickle, feeble thing anyway, so it would probably never have seen the light of day. Which is sad. I love this AU, and this pairing.

My enthusiasm for the very few moments of inspiration I have also feels directionless. Every idea I have for other ships and fics seem pointless: the effort to create them is just too much and it wouldn’t be rewarding to share them. The question ‘what’s the point?’ is louder than ever, and the answer is a resounding: ‘there isn’t one’.

I’ve lost a lot. I’m still losing things that helped hold my life together, and it’s a dark, lonely thing to endure. I honestly don’t know how much of me will survive it. Maybe it’s for the best if the person I am doesn’t.

So, for now, let’s just say I’m putting it all aside. Perhaps the spark I need to create something and share it will come back, perhaps not. I don’t know. For now, though, there’s nothing pushing me or compelling me to turn the ideas I have into stories I can share, and the ideas I have wither and turn to ash within moments anyway.

I just hope that at least one of the fics I’ve put out there has brought you comfort or joy. For the most part that has been my biggest motivation in writing (alongside love for the characters), so if I’ve done that I can rest easy.

Anyone able to help me out?

I have an old Bamboo CTL-470 and it’s doing this thing again where it’s not registering the pen touch (or not registering it quickly enough - there’s a delay). It’s done this before and someone gave me a perfect fix but I can’t for the life of me find the solution again.

The drivers are all a-okay, I haven’t let Windows update in... a very, very long time, so it shouldn’t be doing this, but it did that ‘installing software’ noise when I plugged it in so... *shrug*

Look, creators need validation. Yeah, I preach the write for yourself, draw for yourself, CREATE for yourself, which is true. Everyone should create for themselves because it’s THEIR’S and it’ll always hold something special. Create what YOU need. BUT, creators still need the validation.

If someone is putting their creations out there for even 1 person to see, they need the validation that they are GOOD at what they’re doing. If they don’t get the validation, they will stop. Creativity, inspiration, and motivation will come to a halt because creators will no longer feel like people care about what they create. They may do it privately, sure, but YOU will never see any of it again because that validation is gone. That confidence to SHARE with you, is gone.

So, what I’m saying is that if you LIKE your favorite creator’s work whether that be writing, art, graphics, gifs, video edits, etc. you NEED to validate them otherwise you’ll stop seeing new creations. It takes 2 seconds to comment in the tags of a reblog. If you like what someone produced, TELL THEM.

You know, I don’t know if it’s possible to see who is subscribed to fics on AO3, but I DID find the stats page where it tells me that I wrote 320,736 words out of my 877,374 total published (on this account on AO3). It doesn’t include deleted fics or unposted WIPs but I still think that’s... an okay amount? It’s 36.5% of everything posted there since 2014. I wonder if I’ll beat that this year...

Rarepair bingo

Hey guys!! I’m interested in hosting a rarepair bingo for the naruto fandom! For a bingo event there’s a bingo board of prompts or in this case pairings and people try to complete only some of them with the goal of getting a ‘bingo’ on the board, and I think it would be fun to create a board for rarepairs (using fandom feedback to pick the pairings) and then host an event for it sometime in 2019!
