This hit me up at like 2 am when I was going to the bathroom but what if future!leo glitched to the past right before he was vaporize by the laser but instead of appearing when the key is stolen or when the guys already beat the kraang he is sent to when the turtles mutate in draxum's lab, only his presence there cause Lou jitsu aka splinter to be mortally wounded changing the past, future!leo is devastated because he lost his dad twice and the guilt that his presence caused this almost is too much but seeing his brothers and himself defenseless about to get crushed by the falling debris springs his apocalyptic fight or flight reflexes saves them and escapes the lab, once their safe future!leo realizes that his brothers and his past self don't have a father anymore, so to make things right(and out of guilt) i mean he basically raised casey in the freaking apocalypse, how hard can four mutant baby turtles can be, the answer is very hard, how could his dad raised all four of them without going insane because if it's not mikey drawing and painting the walls then it's donnie tearing apart their electronics that he scavenged to build fucking robots and if not donnie then junior ( that's how past leo is called he didn't want to change his name or give leo a new one so junior it is) is running around and jumping from the highest places in the lair and raph just bites and breaks stuff, he's at his wits end but slowly and steady he manages and mostly everything is fine till canon, one of the biggest differences from canon is that the boys are are actually trained, future!leo lost all his brothers for not being prepared(and losing the key to his arrogance, he drilled humility to junior at a young age and it's mostly sticks but leo will always be leo and his sin is pride) so if you think he's going to be sitting on the couch watching TV all day and only teaching them shitty accion movie stunts, then your crazy, future!leo is a master and lived in the fucking apocalypse of course he's gonna train the boys actual ninjutsu, so when the first episode happens instead of making a fool of themselves in front of the demon guards they actually hold on there own april still falls through the portal to save mayhem, so the boys go get the compass thing from their dad( future!leo here does odd jobs here and there in the hidden city for some cash for food, he wheres a cloak to avoid draxum and big mama, that's why he has a compass thing) since it's in his room (instead of a don't touch shelf like splinter), so they wait for there dad to go do his nightly meditation to get the compass thing, they get it and everything goes like in canon they find april, get their mystic weapons since theirs are damaged ( not broken, they know what there doing but there still young), they fight draxum, accidentally free the oozequitoes and save mayhem, so mostly the same as canon except that future!leo is more attentive than splinter ( no offense to 2018 splinter but he was a little neglectful i mean in canon the boys except leo trusted big mama because she gave them a little attention but anyway)

i can just imagine once Caine and Abel meet they'd immediately start to argue about who's the better AI, throwing insults left and right. likely culminating in Abel saying a insult that hits Caine a little too close to home. causing the two to start fighting

If anyone is still hurting after episode 8, this the Questions and Answers series on AO3 is the perfect therapy. I don’t want to give away too much, but I will say that it starts right after episode 7 and, instead of going all AM, Caine takes a different approach after the “Escape the Circus” adventure. It’s a pretty good mix of angst and people actually caring about Caine. The second link is a fic that’s set in the QnA verse but isn’t part of the collection for some reason. It’s the most recent installment so I’d recommend reading that one last. Each installment also has different tags on them, so make sure you pay attention to each one in case you don’t want to read that specific installment.
