I haven't been on here in a few years and after creeping my tumblr for an hour just wanna say I'm in such a better place mentally and physically than I was when I was regularly posting. I have a degree, I'm going back for my MA, I've done excavations, I have the best partner in the freaking world, the best friend, a stable roof over my head. Im just posting for past me I guess, I never ever in a million years thought I would be here, or heck thought I deserved to be here.

I'm not at the finish line but I've definitely reached a check point.

Also p.s. past self, you found a 4,000 year old projectile point two weeks ago. Betcha didn't think that would ever happen!!!!! :')

Concept: I finish school. The job I work isn’t my dream job but I enjoy doing it greatly still. It pays enough to cover everything I might need. My bills are never overdue. Money is not a thought in my head. I have a place to live. So do my dogs. It is nice and warm, I have some plants, my bookshelves are full, my sheets are always clean. There is time to read at the end of a day. I read a lot. Thinking is a good thing. I meet up with friends regularly, old and new. They love me. We make memories. I have nothing to be ashamed of. I travel a few times a year, always different places. The places I see steal my breath away. The people I meet teach me of life. They are good. There is no war. The sea calls to me and pay visit. I am independent. I am content.

Satellites help locate potential new Viking site in Newfoundland

Researchers in Newfoundland and Labrador are finding evidence that may give more answers to a millennium-old mystery — just how far the Vikings reached into North America.

There are a lot of inflated versions of this story going around, but CBC did the smart thing and contacted Birgitta Wallace, who in addition to being the foremost expert on North America’s only confirmed Norse site (L’Anse aux Meadows) is also a goddess amongst us commoners in the Atlantic Canadian archaeology community. She’s awesome. And she’s skeptical, but looks forward to future research.
