Hazy springtime sunsets
These long walks
Flowers, Sky and sea
I can read you like the palm of my land
Because this recent cold weather has me missing that short week in Japan. My heart aches to be back there again

Pink spaces, orange places, little spaces, big places...
Rain room- an art installation that simulates rain but keeps you dry as sensors track your movement. All I could think of were the days I deliberately walked home from school in the rain. The cold water hitting my face and my shoes soaked in water. Wet or dry... walking through water is an amazing experience.
This was a very last minute trip to Yosemite National park. With no proper hiking gear, or even adequate amount of water, I decided to take the five mile hike up the face of the mountain. I started the hike late and had only gone halfway when the sun started setting. I’m terrified of bears and every snap of a branch had my nerves on edge. As it got darker, I started going down faster and faster. The loose gravel made me skid a few times. Just when I thought I must have taken a wrong turn and gotten lost, I found flat land. I looked up, and saw hundreds of stars adorning the night sky. I kicked myself for being an idiot and then swore I’d be back soon to finish that hike.
Something about the LACMA light installation always makes me feel like an outsider. I see couples holding hands, hugging kissing under these lights and I always stand by the sidelines waiting for the right person to come along. I refuse to go on dates here however I do often come by myself where I sit and I wait...
What fall sunsets look like in #LA. We don’t get the yellow and orange leaves in our trees but we get them in the sky at the end of a long day
My roots
Pink skies over the City of Angels. When I was younger my parents would take me downtown and say in Spanish “We are going to Los Angeles.” Because saying “Los Angeles” literally means “the angels” I always thought we were going to go meet some real life angels. Once in downtown my mom would say “Do you see Los Angeles (the angels?” It took a while for me to realize that the Angels she was referring to were the buildings. For many years during my childhood I would call these buildings “the angels” thinking somehow they were watching over the city. Every time I drive past downtown I still get that same fuzzy feeling I would when I was a kid and immediately feel at home.
As someone born under the sign of Aquarius, I have always felt a connection to water. For me, there is nothing more peaceful than sitting on the sand watching the waves crashing on the beach. I often have dreams, or more precisely nightmares, which manifest themselves as huge waves crashing down on me. When I was 3 I almost drowned in a beach in Mexico. I don’t know why but neither fact has ever made me fear the ocean. To me, it brings and takes away like every crashing and receding wave.
Where I escape to when I feel like I’ve had enough of everything. Something about being able to see a horizon, knowing that this is as far as man can go by car, makes me feel connected to the world like nothing else. It’s the Earths curvature that is limiting my vision and nothing else.
