You let out a deep sigh when you looked at your test score. Again, the numbers did not make you happy at all. It just made you feel worse about yourself. You put the paper inside your bag and closed it, not wanting to even take a glance of it anymore.
It felt horrible. You’ve studied so hard for this, you even pulled an all-nighters for this one specific test. For this one specific test. So that you can get at least a B-. You’ve tried so hard but you just couldn’t get what you wanted. It’s not fair. It’s not-
“What’s wrong, (y/n)?” A familiar voice asked, pulling you out from your horrible thoughts. You turned your head to the source of the voice, it was Jiro Yamada.
“It’s alright. I just… got a really bad score on this one.” You let out a small chuckle, “I guess I’m just stupid…"
"What, no! I’m sure I got even worse than you!” He denied with a serious face. You stayed silent. That didn’t help at all.
“.. I’m such a failure.“ You mumbled quietly, but loud enough for Jiro to hear. Jiro held your shoulders and turned your body to face him. You looked up at him, his heterochromatic eyes staring into yours with comfort.
"Listen, (y/n), you’re the most wonderful person I’ve ever met! You’re veeery nice to me, you’ve helped me with a lot of things! You’re not a failure! You’re amazing! And I’m so, so happy to have you as my best friend!” Jiro exclaimed with a grin, “You can get through this, (y/n) I’ll say it again, you’re not a failure!"
Those words soothe you. It felt nice hearing that from the person you like. Your lips curled up into a smile.
"You’re always so positive, I envy that…” You said.
“Of course, it’s what my nii-chan told me to do, always stay positive!” He grinned.
Jiro froze, his face turning red. "Huh? A-as a friend, huh? Haha- I-I like you too-"
"No, more than that.” You cut him off. The sight you saw was amusing. He was a blushing and a stuttering mess now.
The confident boy who comforted you earlier was gone.
“… really?” He asked, still unsure.
“Mmhm!” You chuckled, “I love you, Jiro Yamada!” You said, reassuring him.
Jiro was still frozen in his place. His little brain needed a bit more time to process all of the thing happening right now.
Suddenly you were pulled into a hug. You felt Jiro burying his face into your shoulder, completely flustered. “I should’ve the one who said it first, dammit!” He said, embarrassed.
You laughed and patted his back. No matter how confident and motivational he is, Jiro Yamada is still a big baby who gets flustered easily.
