How do you even introduce a legend like Shelley Butler?! From sunny California, we are so honored to have Shelley as a contributor. We now join the ranks of the many incredible zines such as Naked Times, T'hy'la, As I Do Thee, and First Time (and many more!!) which have featured her art over the decades! Shelley also helps run @kiscon and remains involved in the fandom to this day. She is an inspiration to us all, and we owe her so much for the years she's dedicated to this crazy little thing called love k/s <3

✴︎ Most important question: Kirk, Spock, or Bones?
Kirk. I am a definite Kirk girl, but especially through the eyes of Spock.
✴︎ What is your “specialty?”
Drawing, but I love writing when I'm not drawing (which is what I happen to be doing now).
✴︎ What is something you've made that you're particularly proud of and why?
Two of my personal favorite pieces are WINGS and SPOCK'S TATTOO. Also, the short video that T'Lara made for me: THE ADVENTURES OF KIRK AND SPOCK.
✴︎ How has it felt to be a contributor in a fanzine?
I am thrilled to be a part of an actual fanzine after so many years! Zines used to be the only place to share in K/S. This is an extraordinary project!
✴︎ What does K/S mean to you?
K/S is so important to me. It is an escape into a most beautiful world of love and passion. It is also a wonderful community that I cherish.
✴︎ Anything else we should know about you?
Returning to fandom after being away for a number of years has been one of the most wonderful things in my life.
✴︎ Where can people find you?
I am on AO3 as SButler. Most of my art and fic works are there, but I participate all the time in Discord (KiScord), and of course, @kiscon. I am always open to communication!

Ranking Star Trek captains based on their ability to deal with children:
At the very top we have Sisko. Man actually successfully raised a child and managed to navigate Small Nog well enough that he got him into starfleet. Also, supports public education, which we love to see. Reputable, trustworthy father figure who I would trust to babysit.
Then I’m putting Pike next, mostly because I feel he brings a sort of Nice Uncle energy to the table that would mesh well with having to direct gaggles of children around short-term. I have no proof for this, however, as I do not recall him having a Children Everywhere episode as of yet. Kind of a wildcard because of this.
Janeway goes in the middle as a completely neutral entity. Children neither hate nor love Janeway, and she returns the favor. Quintessential Adult. She is, however, adept enough to get kids to cooperate with her time travel schemes and other such things when necessary, so she knows Tricks.
Kirk is down here near the bottom, mostly because despite repeatedly having quasi-fatherhood thrust upon him he’s actually pretty bad at it and all of his unwanted adopted children either self-destruct or are put into quantum jail. Very Absent Sixties Househusband approach to parenting, and is excruciatingly awkward when he has to converse with children. In his defense, the only time he really interacts with kids they’re either actively trying to kill him or have created a creepy little cult, so his data is biased.
And as we all know, Lovely Picard goes aaaaaaall the way at the bottom. Man is actively allergic to children. I think if he was given a choice between stepping out of an airlock and babysitting a classroom of kindergarteners he would brave the airlock immediately. Radiates discomfort when anyone under the age of like 24 approaches him. I’m real proud of him for not spontaneously disintegrating into dust that one time he was stuck in a lift with a bunch of kids.

I’ve been obsessed with this tiktok for days now
Person: "Hello sir." he pets the frog with one finger.
Person: "Have a good day. Actually wait a minute. You missed a bug, but I got you home boy. Hold on." he picks a bug up and throws it next to the frog.
Frog: turns around and eats the bug.
Person: "OHHHHH-" sings high pitched and angelic like he witnessed a miracle.
literally what the fuck is wrong with them. i’m going crazy.
I forgot if you already did something like this, but maybe an old-fashioned picnic back on Earth (or an Earth landscape in the holodeck)?
they would have such lovely time 😭
