Naomi Gilon

Naomi Gilon (Arlon, BE) 1996, lives and works in Brussels. Fr/ A travers des voyages répétés entre peinture et sculpture, elle fini par développer une pratique consistant en un jeu d’addition entre formes et matières empruntées au milieu automobile. Des objets industriels — Pare-chocs, ailes, capots, etc. - devenus obsolètes en perdant leur fonction et leur beauté, sont sortis des garages/cimetières pour ressusciter au sain de l’environnement artistique, retrouvant une nouvelle vie tout en gardant les marques du passé. En/ Going back and forth between painting and sculpting, she ends up developing a practice consisting of a game of addition between forms and substances taken from the automobile world. Industrial objects - Bumpers, wings, hoods, etc. - becoming obsolete by losing its primary function and aesthetic, are taken out of garages/cemeteries to relive in an artistic environment, finding a new life whilst keping the scars of the past.
