Hard Times Now, Hard Times Ahead

It’s been a long time since I’ve been on tumblr, and I’m back because it’s one of few places I can maintain some degree of anonymity in the online world.

Here’s what I’ve been up to: I moved out of my mom’s place, back in June, before I was ready. Mostly because it was unsafe for me to be there after getting robbed at gunpoint on my way home from work back in April.

I started pro domming, and it was fucking hard. It’s hard to find clients who are safe/trustworthy, who wouldn’t try bargaining with me, or try topping from the bottom. And it’s gotten worse now with the adult section being removed from backpage. I can’t afford to be fancy and get a website or pay for advertisements the way a lot of pro dommes do, so I’ve relied on backpage to get clients. It seems my more consistent clients are out of town or unable to pay for a session so I don’t really know what to do.

I’m constantly on the job hunt, I’m struggling to keep my landlord off my back about rent and I’m really stressed out about it, and can barely feed myself. I’ll be starting a new job soon, but it will be several weeks before I get my first check. I’m not setting a goal, but if anyone is willing to help out that would be great. A Chicago police officer was caught on surveillance allegedly punching a pregnant woman in the stomach before blurting out racist remarks.

The pregnant woman claims she was an innocent bystander in the 5100 block of West Washington, as she watched the police officer chasing a suspected drug dealer at around 5:30that Friday. She and others laughed after the plain clothed police officer was too slow to catch him and the suspect got away. This infuriated the officer to the point of no return.

A body found buried in a shallow grave outside Smithfield has been positively identified as a missing transgender woman from Rowan County, WSOC-TV reports.

About four hours ago, I posted something about the 14th trans person murdered in the U.S. this year alone. Since that post, that number has gone up.

Elisha Walker, age 20 and from North Carolina, had been missing since October (pictured above). Her body was finally found earlier today and Angel Arias has been charged with her murder. 

Kandis Capri, from Arizona, was reportedly killed today after trying to intervene in a domestic dispute. 

At least 16 this year. At least three trans women of color this week.

Summer of Black Rage/No Cookies for You, White Ally Cookies (Double Chocolate Chip coconut habanero)

INGREDIENTS

1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour (I did half reg flour, half coconut flour) 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, softened 1 ¼ cups firmly packed light brown sugar 1/3 cup granulated sugar 1/3 cup cocoa powder 2 large eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla 3 cups sweetened flaked coconut 2 cups Semisweet chocolate chips 1 cup white chocolate chips 3 habaneros, diced very fine (i used a food processor)

PREPARATION

Preheat oven to 350°F. Put on your favourite Erykah Badu song. Mine’s “On and On.” (no, it’s not “Tyrone,” for obvious reasons. Focus!) This is a critical part of the process.

In a bowl whisk together flour, baking soda, cocoa powder, and salt. Mock the idea of multiculturalism as a panacea for structural racism as you watch the powders mix. In another bowl with an electric mixer cream butter and sugars until fluffy and a lighter shade but not white and in any case color is not an indicator of goodness or moral value.* Beat in eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition and beat in flour mixture. Drink any nearby alcoholic beverage and sing along, off-key with your Erykah Badu song. Beat in vanilla, because it has been able to get by on its privilege unaware for too long, and then stir in coconut, habanero, and chocolate chips to let vanilla know it ain’t running shit by itself anymore.**

Drop dough by level tablespoons 2 inches apart onto buttered baking sheets and bake cookies for 10 minutes. Cool cookies on baking sheet 1 minute and transfer to racks to cool completely.

Cookies keep in airtight containers 5 days. Do not share them with allies if they feel entitled to them.
