I've been grinding in this sketchbook (and a few others) for well over four months now, and since I'm very much in educator-mode these days (or I should be), I'm going to the well of sketchbook posts for the majority of the next few months. I am still working on new things, now that I have no further events incoming for the rest of 2024.

I have to focus on building towards 2025, and how I'll continue to evolve. So, it will be revealing, even to me.

Don't stop growing, y'know.

Jet Set Radio Sticker - Beat

Hello hello hello.

June was a little busy and unsettling (I shouldn't be surprised). With the end of the semester at the College for Creative Studies, I'm somehow, once again, finding myself in a scramble. There are many low points, but I'm managing to bounce back. I should try to find another, different avenue that doesn't lead to me finding myself in a really tough summer, but only time will tell if I can push into a better situation.

For now, the Sticker Club Rewards for June are these Jet Set Radio Stickers. Measuring at nearly 6 x 6" inches, this sticker celebrating Beat from Jet Set Radio, could be my largest sticker to date. It would be more costly to produce these stickers if I were outsourcing the production. Thanks, in part, to my patrons, it means that I'm able to own some of the machines required to make stickers like this.

No, I don't think anyone can thrive or even survive what I'm earning on that platform, but it's something and it makes a difference when it counts. Everything adds up, is what I tell students.

So, I'm still going. I'm still working towards the goals I have.

My birthday was two days ago, but still felt compelled to write this up. (I spent all that time on these sketches anyway.)

I'm sure you're all tired of hearing about how 2024 started for me. The ironic thing is if things had gone how I had (foolishly) expected them to, I wouldn't have been able to do all the things I did this year, the way I wanted to. In January, I wrote about not waiting for permission, and going back to taking risks and betting on myself more and more. During the Motor City Comic Con panel discussion I participated in, I focused most of my comments on just that. These past six months have been a huge refocusing effort for me, and I only want to continue that.

This drawing of me is very much how I felt in January, but I'm still standing. We're still going.

Henlo. It my birthday this month, and I thought I would try something new. Yes, you've not heard the rumors-- it's true. I will be offering $20 headshot, postcard-size (4x6") commissions for 20 people.

They will look something like this, more or less. Ink on 2-ply Strathmore 400 Series Bristol. If I add an accent color, it will be my choice and no charge to you the gift-giver/art-receiver. All commissions will be shipped by the end of June.

Wrestletober 16: Eddie Guerrero

If there's one thing you can know about me it's that Eddie Guerrero is my G.O.A.T. The style, the personality, the look, the legacy– Eddie is an influential figure in wrestling that can't be denied. We miss him everyday.
