at 2:05 of today’s video (The Unus Annus Annual Costume Contest), this happened:

now… notice they’re all really long and approximately the same length. This suggests a ~transmutation cipher~ where all the letters of the original message are there, just jumbled.

At first I thought maybe it was just the first letter of each word, followed by the second, then the third… and so on:

Reading down the columns didn’t make sense, but I did notice that the words seemed to be alternating in length. So I made two columns, each containing every other word.

and it worked! Now we have:

and

he was re-placed she was undone I had escaped yet he had still won

make of that what you will. I find the use of “re-placed” rather than “replaced” extremely interesting, but I’m not sure what it could actually mean.

Voices in his head, invisible hands clawing at his skin, a sickness that made it’s home in the corners of his mind. It was an enemy and a friend, part of his own soul never to part, a villain and a savior too blurred of a line to distinguish anymore.

Look at you. You’re pathetic. You deserved it.

Mark stood at the sink, ghostly hands clutching the porcelain just to keep himself upright, staring at his own haunted eyes. His face, once fresh and sun-kissed, now only showing a sad husk of a man with overgrown stubble and corpse-like hollows. Golden cheeks dulled and sapped of life, no longer golden enough for the golden boy. His pain worsened every day, inside and out, like an ache that resonated inside of his bones and squeezed his heart like a vice - that is, if he had a heart left. Or perhaps it wasn’t a matter of his chest being empty. Perhaps it was a matter of his heart being overgrown, branching outward like an eldritch creature and tangling itself among his rib cage, each sickly pulse turning his stomach and making him wish he could tear it out and throw it into the darkness.

But the darkness was everywhere, it wouldn’t help. It would come right back to him. It always did. Every bruise decorating his flesh was a reminder of that fact, his body a canvas of anguish and suffering, and the artist was his own trembling hand. His silk robe was open to expose his chest, a compliment to his disheveled hair he hadn’t bothered to comb, and it only showed his own reflection how much of a monster he’d become.
