KENDRICK LAMAR GRAMMY SNUB
by Ray Nelson
If you were surprised by the Kendrick Lamar’s recent Grammy snub, I could only assume that this was you first time you ever watched the Grammy Awards. So if your not familiar with the history of hip hop category when it comes to the Grammy, let me get you up to speed by highlighting three famous hip hop Grammy snubs. Grammy Awards 1998: Notorious BIG’s “Hypnotize” single lose to Will Smith’s “Men In Black”. Grammy Awards 1998: Many thought Wu-tang Clan was a sure win but instead they lose both nominations which lead Ol’ Dirty Bastard to bum rush the stage to tell the audience “I went and brought me and outfit that cost me a lot of money, because I figured wu-tang was going to win.I don’t know how you all see it, but Wu-Tang is for the children…Puffy’s good but Wu-Tang is the best”. Grammy Awards 1990: Many agree, the worst hip hop snub of all time was when Public Enemy’s powerful hip hop song “Fight The Power” lose to Young MC’s pop radio hit “Bust A Move”. Back to Kendrick Not only did many people believe that Kendrick Lamar should have won “Album of the Year” even the winner Macklemore says that “Kendrick got robbed” and that “Good Kidd M.A.A.D City” deserved to have won. Okay Hip Hop…all together now, in the words of Flavor Flav “Who Gives A F*#@ About A God Damn Grammy”
