Did you board anything for Chaos Theory Season 4? Or do you have any to show? Particularly episodes 6-9 for...angst reasons...

Aww, thank you!! Yeah I did, I'm responsible for scenes in episodes 3, 6, and 9. I'm working on making visuals of those boards for tumblr but in sum of what's to come: Episode 3: The beginning with the dilophosaurus attack, Brooklynn and Ben fighting at the elevator, Brooklynn going Rambo on Dr. Wu, and then the final scene of the n6+smoothie reunited in the woods

Episode 6: The beginning through to them heading off into the woods (sorry about the Ben pain though in my defense, what y'all're seeing is a lot more chill than how we'd originally done it) and then Ben + Bumpy + Smoothie reunion through the end

Episode 9: I had the boys getting Ben into the car through the airfield, so lots of car action and dino action and more Ben pain lol

I'll have to double check what I'm allowed to share, but there's also a cut scene from Episode 6 that's Brooklynn's POV of her losing her arm and being found by Ronnie so if I can I'll share that too bc I was pretty proud of that!

Today is premiere day for THE LAST season of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory. It's been such a satisfying journey working with these characters over the course of 2 series, and I'm grateful that we had the chance to push the boundaries of what we knew was possible. We hope you've enjoyed the ride 😌.

Did your early pre-med background influence your looking into paleontology papers to figure out the various dinosaur behaviors? (I remember you mentioned looking into it for the Becklespinax attack scene and at least one other scene)

Oh, maybe?? What an interesting question... tbh I think they're both just symptoms of being a curious person, specifically in stem areas. I also met a paleontologist right as I was hired onto the show, so from those talks I was inspired to achieve accurate representation of dinosaur behaviour as best as I could since I had no power over adding more feathered dinos

What did the various story teams do on "Jurassic World: Chaos Theory"? Were they assigned different episodes or different characters? Was there any inter-team rivalry?

But to answer the questions-

1) what did the various story teams do? - there were 3 Story Teams on JWCT (internally referred to as Team 1[Team Ankylosaurus], Team 2 [Team Raptor], and Team 3 [Team Pteranadon]). Each Team consisted of a Director, 3 Storyboard artists, and a Story Revisionist.

Once a Team would finish an episode, we'd then pass on the episode to our Supervising Director and Producers, Editors, and a Lock Revisionist to work on the very final animatic before sending it off to animation. This was our "Locke/Shipping" animatic (and no, not Shipping like that lol). That last animatic typically tended to last minute notes, timing/editing adjustments, and tweaks to acting.

2) Were they (the teams) assigned to different episodes or different characters? - All the episodes were split up between all 3 teams (team 1 took ep 1, Team 2 on ep 2, etc). That said, and this was up to the directors and board artists' discretion, certain board artists have certain interests, strengths, and affinities, so directors may hand specific board artists specific types of scenes that may/may not overlap with certain characters (like if I recall correctly, @tio-trile would often get a lot of dino-related sequences, so I remember complaining about never getting to really draw gia lol, and @natamouche-art getting a lot of Pyro, smoothie, and scar scenes like brooklynn running from red in ss2)

3) Was there any inter-team rivalry?

Jiedi and Josh No of course not!!! We were all peaceful and well adjusted. :]

liiiiike i said, watched a lot of top gun for season 3 episode 1 chaos theory. fooled around and accidentally became a huge tom cruise fan. yikes. anyway, here's all my margin doodles of bradshaws i did while working on that episode

I drew inspiration from a LOT of Top Gun 1&2, and through way too much research basically learned the basics of flying a plane. whoops

Some extra behind the scenes about my sequences (the final third of the episode) below:

when Sammy does CPR on the steggo, that's based off real CPR that I watched videos of veterinarians do on cows and elephants!

post-epipen, the steggo's pupils originally blew out and it started twitching and seizing for a few seconds instead of just popping right up in a panic. I looked up horses having seizures for reference, something that took my youtube algorithm ages to recover from

at one point in the animatics one of the engines blew out, but that was deemed too unrealistic :,(

the outside of the plane and the inside of the plane are two different sets, so shooting the thagomizer breeching the side of the plane took a bit of finagling

the crash landing originally took a bit longer, and as the wheels of the plane came down it clipped the tops of the trees in the forest below, causing debree to go flying into the engines

in the shot where Ben talks about his "girlfriend", the full recorded take had him doing this weird guffaw-wheeze that was so freakin hilarious. Sadly they took it out, but to my friend geramiah and I, it's forever immortalized in this image i sent to him as we laughed over it

SEASON 3 came out earlier this month, yay! If anyone hasn't seen it yet, go binge now, it's personally my favourite season. I'm gonna start dropping storyboard gifs and my s3 doodles in a mo, enjoy!

During @neunhofferart 's Chaos Theory Magma Collab Stream Extravaganza(tm), @natamouche-art drew an amazing picture of Yasammy as Caitvi, and chat nearly had a collective aneurysm trying to figure out what Sammy would call Yaz instead of Cupcake. Chat settled on Pumpkin, or Sugarcube, which naturally ended in thoughts of "Yer hot, Sugarcube" and I needed to exorcise it from my brain so now this exists lmao

Pretend I didn't have to relearn art after years of no art to do it, thanks.

I did NOT work on the reunion scene at the end of Chaos Theory season 2, but I did work on the scene where Brooklynn was exiting the plane in the episode before, and when I saw how short the airstair design was compared to the plane I couldn't get this out of my head

(The plane wasn't designed by our own team but rather reused from another show I will not name, and that other show was unfortunately not as thorough at showing how their designs worked asdffsd. I still can't remember how it actually closed and fit the whole door)
