Ummmmmmm
Ok, so it's been a long time and plenty has sorted itself out as of late...so things are good!
The one thing I miss though is driving! I NEED A CARRRRR!!!!!!
WooHoo!!
I finally got my act together and got myself a decent camera to go out and play with! I'll upload the best of the bunch and feel free to let me know what you think about them!
I'm still playing with composition and such, so any tips would be much appreciated :)
OMG!
So I'd say it was like over a month since I was last here...I'm not too great at this whole blogging malarky :)
So what have I been upto of late? Mainly watching CSI, my new found passion in life. I've never been a huge fan of boxsets and I rarely watch TV, so watching up to season 5 (so far) of the same program is a pretty big deal!
Other than that, there are big changes in my future. I finally figured out the tattoos that I want to get, hopefully a samurai and lotus flower sleeve by the end of the year...funds permitting that is. I may have finally sussed how to get this bank account ball rolling, so after that I'll actually be able to get my own place (thank fuck for that!).
So yeah, theres an update! Better late than never :)
I finally saw it...
A number of people have seen, or at least know of a video floating around Youtube of a woman 'having a go' at people of various ethnic backgrounds on the London Underground. So I figured it would only be right to put my views on this seriously uneducated and downright racist human being.
I was completely blown away by this woman's comments. So she bigs up the BNP (Uneducated morons in suits) and tells an entire carriage of people to 'go back to your own country'. She starts to bang on about people coming over from other countries to reap the benefits of the UK. Now this comment alone got me thinking.
So okay, there are people who do come over to this country knowing that they can claim benefits and are entitled to them. Yes, there may well be a few people who claim more than they should, for a lot longer than they should. But if you take a step back for a second, maybe go down to your local Job Centre and have a look at the queue. I may be wrong (and please correct me if I am), but at my local centre, there are a hell of a lot of british people (the woman reckons the only true brits are from a white ethnic background) standing around, smoking cigarettes in grotty clothes waiting for there dole money. Fair enough if they are actively looking for work, or are unable to work due to physical or mental health issues, or have another valid reason.
But then, a lot of the misconception of other ethnic backgrounds is completely unfounded and fueled by media coverage (that thing that a majority of people listen to as if it was gospel truth). It still amazes me how people think that whatever is written on the front page of a newspaper is the truth. Yes, media coverage is a pet hate of mine.
So why is she having a go at somebody who is of another race?
Benefits? - Not a valid excuse as all of the people on the train will have had to pay to be on there. Plus, why would they be in the most expensive city if they had the bare minimum to live on?
The BNP? - What a bunch of timewasters. They believe that they have the best ideas. I'm sure a lot of people believed Hitler was full of good ideas, but that clearly was not the case...not by a long shot.
Being 'British'? - What a load of tosh. I'm sorry, but why should ignorant, uneducated people be led to believe that they are somehow better than anyone else from another country? I'm damn certain they are quite happy when they are in another country on holiday.
I would like to point out that there are many different cultures (well over 200 in London alone) and they all have their own way of living their lives. If it wasn't for morons that decide they have the God-given right to openly have a go at them, I'm sure we would all get on a lot better.
But back to the media. The story in question is the four Muslim girls who attacked a white girl (not that skin colour should make a difference). Because of the way it is portrayed (that and the War on Terror), there are a lot of people who will now have a media fueled hatred for the Muslim community. Why?
I do believe, however, that it is unacceptable they should be pardoned for their actions because they are 'not used to alcohol'. It doesn't matter what ethnic background you are from, all human beings deserve to be held accountable for their actions. If I were to down a litre of vodka, go into town and beat a member of the public, I would be liable to some sort of sentence. For all the Judge and Jury know, it could have been the first time I had ever drunk alcohol. This is again, a fear of persecution of another race due to media. I'm pretty sure that there are a lot of people, from all backgrounds who would agree with this.
So to finish, racism is unacceptable. There is no need for it. Wars are fought because of money, religion or power. Religion is another thing I disagree with, but I keep my views to myself because every person on this planet is entitled to make their own choice on their religious standings and I am not about to force my opinions on anyone.
I must say though, the courageous lady on the train, trying to set this moron straight. She has every right to be in this country as I do and I applaud her for standing up and setting the woman straight. I also want to say that I feel sorry for the poor child who had to sit on his mother's lap as she hurled racist abuse at members of the public. I just hope he doesn't end up sharing her views.
So there it is. My take on racism in media and life. :)
I still remember my parents trading in the Sega Saturn for this. I'll never forget Crash Bandicoot!
aaaahhhhhhhh, the good ol' days :)
Jeez...it has been ages since my last post!
Well here I am, it's definitely been way too long since I last opened Tumblr. A fair bit has happened lately too, so I actually have a little bit to talk about.
Ok, so the first thing is my family. Both of my younger brothers have a little girl each, so I'm an uncle twice now. Both of them seem to be growing so quickly now, both smiling constantly and the eldest of the two (Gracie) is even trying to stand!
My work life is going really well, I seem to be making an impact on the others working in the store and I'm actually able to put my thoughts forward to my manager on how we can make our lives easier in the stock room. The stock room is a bit of a shambles (no fault to the staff or the company) because it used to be a shoe store. So the storage space is specifically designed for shelves of boxes, rather than coats, knitwear, jeans etc. So I had a master plan to maximise space and make it easier for us to access the stock we want at any time, rather than having to don a head-torch to go hunting for a specific coat!
My love life is also going from strength to strength. My gorgeous girl is buying me some really, really nice boots for Christmas and although I don't really have any money til after the big day, she understands. She also understands that I can't afford to buy her a birthday present, which is a shame as her birthday is overshadowed by Christmas every year (its in the middle of December). So I have some big plans to make up for no Birthday or Xmas presents that will go live in the new year. I can't wait!!
The one thing that I am not looking forward to is her going to Uni. She will be gone for three years and I'll see her even less than I do now. And I only see her three days a week, if I'm lucky!
So that's it for now really, just waiting for my first big paycheck to come in and then I'm golden. Oh, and I am getting inked up as my New Year's resolution. I want my side done and at least one full sleeve by next Christmas!
Ooooo...
So, I started a new blog (I'll try and keep up with this one too) on Blogger.com
Check it out: lifeisabitstrange.blogspot.com
Ok, so the idea has been around for about 3-4 years now....maybe this is progress :)
Either way, epic video!!
Too bloody right...also lift the toilet seat with your foot :)
